WOW!!

You guys must have some major rodents!!! Guess it does pay to live out in wild after all. We have too many predators for any large "prey" to last for long. All we have to do is keep the brush cut back. Biggest rodents we have are ground squirrels (or used to-we smoke bombed their burrows and the survivors saw the wisdom of relocating) and a gazillion of those irritating red squirrels. Even the chipmunks we have are the lesser chipmunks (the really small ones) and hawks keep them thinned out. I use the bucket trap for the occasional new "tenants" that think they are going to get away with squatting under my workshop (aka field mice and voles).

Yes, It is terrible. The rats here come from the granaries and warehouses out here....

They eat a lot too!

deb, TSC sells green blocks rampage by tom cat I think? You can buy them in bulk even. Don't bother with the bait holder thing. They have a hole down through them. I used long sheet rock screws to bolt them to a beam in our cellar and a board in our back room behind our chest freezer where I also seen them. It forces them to chew em up rather than cart them off and squirrel them away. Had rat's bad first yr winter we moved here, haven't seen any since. Now I just have a bucket trap in the cellar for mice, only caught one this winter. I hated using poison but they got smart to the traps.

Already bought a bunch of Tomcat stuff. at Home Depot. I like the sheet rock screw idea though. that way I can see if they have partaken of any and they cant haul it away.

I also bought a couple of rat traps and some hardware cloth specifically for covering access locations. my house floor is full of holes from an old Coleman furnace I took out. I want to put a chunk behind every floor vent then screw the vent back down. As well as covering the 18 x 2 foot opening in the floor and ceiling where the furnace was installed. I ahve to keep the openings for when I get a chance to have the kitchen rewired...

I want to take the Kitchen down to the studs for rewiring project... The floor has to be rehabbed as well. So I may have to setup a small kitchen area out in the green house room for that project. Its a small kitchen... only about ten by twelve or so. And all its walls have electric in them and share walls with all the rooms that are experiencing "issues".

FWIW Tomcat is not wild life safe.... but my hope is the dosage will be contained within the house and hidy holes of the vermin.... I have no dog or chickens to worry about at this time.

I hang with a wire through the hole--

Just one bite works well too.

Cant find Just one bite here in San Diego... Thats what I was looking for...
Something with Warfarin... Thats what Just One Bite has in it.

Could be a county ban on it? Can you still get it in your neck of the woods?

for that matter I used to use Orange Oil insect spray... Great stuff for ants and fleas in the carpet... Non toxic for dogs and cats. It can also be used in the garden... But when I recently tried to buy some NONE of the places I could get it before offered it.

I found one pest control company that uses it... but they are an industrial company meaning they do buildings and Big fields... they dont sell to the public.

I found it online though so when i am ready to go for it I will order some.
