The Old Folks Home

I just read something I didn't know in a ebay ad for beltsville white turkeys. They said they are 'parthenogenesis' 30% of the eggs will hatch unfertilized, no tom, and hatch all males. That's crazy! They are selling fertile eggs, they just mentioned that.
What I read said that pathogenesis is 100% fatal with the embryo dying after several days.

Another problem is that gender for birds comes from the egg of the female--if true that parthenogenesis was at work, they would not all be male.

The seller is very wrong.

I just looked this up! Wow! Apparently it can be any chicken or turkey. I never heard of that. Does that mean I don't need any toms eating up food? lol

Here's a picture of my chicks from you (and 3 leghorns from the store)

As you can see, weirdly, almost everyone is feathering out completely white except that one buckeye that was a darker colored chick (middle front) and one turkey that is a nice tan colored (back middle). Everyone else is WHITE!!! I don't understand.
Also one of my leghorn sexed females is a boy.

I keep looking at this pic trying to figure out what is what? I can't tell what is a turkey or a chick from the pick. I can tell the two brown ones. But how many of the white ones are turkey?

Pathogenicism is surprisingly common in the animal world but usually they take after mom. self clones so to speak.
