My husband just sent me a message about our chicken loss.. I'm working on killing the raccoon. He says your so cute when your angry cause I know your sitting there on byc and rage knitting a rug for the kitchen:) he knows me so well

Correction. It's not the raccoon, it's all the raccoonS. There's always more than one with many more to take their place when they're gone.

ETA, you must be in the wilderness.
I'm in the suburbs. If I set traps every night, I'd probably catch several a week. Then there is the assistance from cars with all the dead ones on the road.
Most rural areas have 20 or more raccoons per square mile.
Cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, New York and St. Louis have 100 or more per square mile.
Some have huge territories. Urban raccoon females may have a territory of as small as 7 acres and can share it with related females. Rural males' territories can be as large as 20 sq. miles.
They like to climb for protection so they are uncommon in prairies, perhaps as little as one per square mile.

But yeah I'm not wilderness but definatly not suburbs, I have a acrage that's a hobby plot, all the neighbors are dairy farmers and I'm in se mn near the wisconsin border. All gravel roads closest town is 3k pop, second closest city is 150 k pop. So it's not bad

Welcome Lilmynx glad you joined the old "tooters" home- plenty of rocking chairs to go around. I think they ended the bingo games due to the violence and blood shed, try to separate two ladies yelling Bingo at the same time.!
