The Old Folks Home

I've .. heard..that back yard flocks have been encouraged in most states because of the bird flu..the back yard flocks not coming down with it!

Cyn, I've been tracking Avian Influenza through this:
http://www.wattagnet.com/Avian_influenza_outbreak_map.html

The map is pretty awesome, at the bottom you can track by species type, region, flock size, operation or date. While it has mostly been commercial, some backyard flocks have been affected.

If you click on the pins on the map it will actually tell you all about what happened at that site.

It's everything a type-a anal-retentive person could ask for.

lynnhill thank you very much. It is discouraging at times but I try not to take it personal and keep working on getting out of here. Yes the southern part of the state is my favorite part. I make a few trips down to "red rock country" each year. SCG and I did Zion earlier this year and I did Escalante over the 4th of July weekend with DH. Utah is a lovely place to visit but I am done with cold long winters. I spent too many years being spoiled in southern AZ to like being back where you have to shovel the white stuff. I can do hot and dry any day over cold and snowy. We won't take the birds with us but we will take the dogs. I already downsized all my horses. I sent two to go live with DD and the other three I sold off. It was difficult to do but I have to be more mobile if I am going to be this far away from DD and our granddaughter for now. I will continue to enjoy my birds though until we finally get to leave. Downsizing to be mobile is definitely hard to do.
Yes,it would be very difficult for me to downsize. I'm wanting to upsize. (Don't think that's a word)Lol. Take care.

The doctor agreed that my tonsils need to come out!

Not looking forward to the surgery and recovery, but looking forward to living without them.

I also planned my trip home to take the scenic route and stopped by 5 very rural quilt shops to pick up patterns for the row by row. Still a few more in the state I'd like to pick up. I have to travel sometimes for work to educate people, thinking I'm going to plan some trips for "work" reasons very soon. Might as well make some coworkers happy while I'm scooting around the state. Good thing we have branches in all the areas I'd like to go to.

My son had his tonsils out when he was a little boy. The recovery was easy(for me) because I got him a new Nintendo game and he fixated on that. Having 4 wisdom teeth pulled on spring break High school, wasn't fun either.
