Sadly, it's not. And as you said, some of the people with strong biases are actually members of the group they are biased toward.Racisim still exists in America though. It is not the war that is the concern.
You did read my post about bias? That is now not the past.
One of DD's favorite YouTubers is a young black guy. In one of his videos, he talks about "driving while black," and getting pulled over by a black female officer that apparently had a problem dealing with young black men. On another video, he talks about helping out a female friend who is selling her washer and dryer, and his alarmed reaction to the young black men who come to collect them. They were very quiet, and one of them did some sort of gesture that he didn't recognize. "It looked, well, like some kind of sign language, or something, but let me tell you, I'm from the streets, and black thugs don't do sign language!!" He says he was sure he and his friend were about to get mugged, or worse, and was having panicky thoughts about jumping out the window when it finally hit him that one of the young men actually was hearing impaired, and yes, that "black thug" was doing sign language!
