The Old Folks Home

@Wisher1000 Once you get it under control TSC has this collogen stuff that works wonders on wounds. Lambert Kay EMT gel. Disinfects, relieves pain and promotes rapid healing. Its amazing, read up on it. Last time I suggested it Oz mentioned it is also being used on humans.
Honey also works wonders, I've personally never have used honey on wounds but I've read its like a 'wonder drug'.

DiDi, love your photos..I was going to pick out my favorite..couldn't do it, they are so beautiful. I do love the one where you got a photo of lighthouse, and..caught the sail boat on the right side. Pretty cool. :)

Getaclue no pictures of that lobster dinner because even though I was born in Maine, I never cared for lobster. We had SCG's "famous" stone soup (delicious!) though.

I got a few shots of the moon as it was in full eclipse but it was somewhat hazy/cloudy so they were not the best focus. Then I had to go to bed because I had to get up early for work

No pics of the Famous Stone Soup either? At least you enjoyed it, and that's the important part.

Sorry to hear about the chicken with maggots. I would clean it out with Betadine, and give injectable, or oral antibiotics. When it's stronger, use peroxide to flush out more maggots.

Wisher, I'm sorry I didn't mention this earlier but for future reference, I learned this from a cocker forum based in SE Asia where they treat wounds all the time.
If the wound is new, you can use hydrogen peroxide. If it is after the first day (as yours was) use betadine. Hydrogen peroxide cleans well but will also destroy new cell growth. So after the first day healing has already begun so betadine is a better choice as it is the go to antiseptic but without destroying new tissue.

Getting my NPIP testing done in about an hour or so. I've been catching and crating birds for about an hour. All those that would be impossible to catch after daylight. I have 2 more roosters to catch before first light. I think the other buildings are suitable for catching all the birds. I only need to test the ones over 4 months of age. I think that's a little over 30 birds. I'll check back after it's done.

Good luck CC. :)

Wisher I have wrapped wounds that bad with gauze with some bedadine on it and then vet wrap over the entire bird to hold the bandage in place. And change it daily.

I know that Tomtom had a hawk attack one of hers and she sewed it up after cleaning it. She kept it in a crate in the house for a couple weeks and it survived.
I hope your girl makes it.

There was that TV show where they put bacon on the wound.... So the maggots would leave the human and attach to the bacon... Then get removed.

:idunno i thought that was cool... Not sure if it works in real life.
