The Old Folks Home

Have to do my speel. I used to be into helping the awareness come about back in the 80's when Spina Bifida was the number one birth defect. It's better known today. I was part of that 5 yr. study they did to find out that eating your leafy greens and taking your pre natal vitamins would steer you from this birth defect.

Myself and my baby back in the 80's born with Spina Bifida.

He also helped Lindsey Sterling with her ads a while back when she was becoming popular on youtube. Now, she is pretty well known. Has her own CD and does tours.

If you have any children, grandchildren that are thinking of becoming pregnant, please tell them to eat their leafy greens, and to start their prenatal vitamin the min. they think they will be trying, not once they get pregnant, but as soon as they know they want to be. If they find they are, then they should start them right away. This birth defect is no longer the number one birth defect in our country. It used to happen every single hr. in our country. Now with the help of the vitamins, and dr.s explaining how the moms' should be eating, it is happening less!

Wisher, how's your family holding up today?

This morning I finished a quilt top for a friend. I still have probably 5 hours left to go before it's an actual quilt (the basting, quilting and binding) but I thought I'd share since the theme was relevant. My friend bought this as a kit many years ago, had attempted the first step of the quilt (without proper materials) and (thankfully) gave up before ruining much of the kit. She asked me to "finish" it for her for Christmas.

That is really pretty. The roosters make it very colorful.

Wisher I hope and pray things are getting better for all of you.

X2 everything you said about Spina Bifida.

Because they figured out that adequate Folic Acid is so important they now put it in regular inexpensive bread.

My dad was on the board that decided about that, and how much needed to be in each slice. He voted for a higher amount per slice, in case the mom was too nauseous to eat more than one slice of bread.

@chickadoodles

Bad papa bunny!!!! I hope you are OK! Wash those scratches super well with lots of soap.

x3 Cynthia. I post and share on face book about Spina Bifida.

I did I was putting hand sanitizer on it at TSC when it happened till I got home.

SCG - Love the quilt top! I particularly like the whimsical touch of the hen that is appliqued on top of the "frame."

Rabbit scratches!

It's something I always have to warn prospective owners about. Most rabbits hate being picked up; there are ways to reduce the damage, but sometimes I get lacerated in spite of everything.

I have to be careful now too. My DD that is married and living in Finland left her pet bunny. The biggest problem I have moving him is ripping up my shirt though-Yes they have sharp claws but it is not because they are mean--just scared.

Yep! How in the world did I forget to mention...Folic Acid! In leafy greens, and of course, vitamins. Bread? Cool!
