Cordless brad nailer. Just love this thing! Saves so much time. Only took me about half an hour to fix up the coop (some of the trim boards had come off) and maybe another 15 minutes to fix some trim boards and the door on the big coop. Power tools and camera accessories are what I like, forget jewelry!

Amen! Yours looks similar to ours only yours is cordless. I'm jealous.

For those of you with curiosity and an iron stomach check this out:

Been real busy today. I got the pen all cleaned, both little coops cleaned out and the nest boxes lined with fresh shavings. Got the smallest coop fixed up for the two month olds because today was moving day for them. Pretty sure I have two boys and three girls in the batch. Fixed up the coop with my new power tool:

Well, the coyote got my old, alpha roo today. It got the young BCM roo three days ago. That makes 9 birds lost in the past three weeks. I can't keep them up, I don't have enough space. I have asked my guys to build me a fenced in area (to keep the yote away) for Mother's Day. They started on it today, maybe it will get built before I am out of chickens all together.......

Oh WIsher, how aweful!! I find 3 foot fencing is enough to keep the coyote out of my yard. THey do have other food to go eat as a large preserve is next door. Fencing helps, hope they can get it installed before the last chicken is gone.

Wisher, here's a :hugs for you.

I am one who does not have a covered run. Or even a run at all. The coop is secured every night, but I wouldn't be comfortable locking the flock in it during the day. It may be officially large enough in square footage and with plenty of roost space, but not for daytime purposes. (Although few chickens come out when it rains....)

My property is fenced, which makes the whole three-quarters of an acre "the poultry run."

Thank you, Linda. I needed that. That is my arrangement, too, except I live on 23 acres and have no fence. My coop is 12x24 with an 8x8 "bedroom" where I brood teenagers and a 4x8 area for storage of feed, feeders, shavings and such. The open air (covered) run is 12x16 and the adult birds roost there at night. It is closed up tight every night but they all freerange during the day. The yote has been taking them in broad daylight.

Is there some way to make the 'yote go bye-bye? I've had some major massacres in the past, courtesy of a fox, but as long as the hot wire around the outside of the pasture fence works, the foxes find food elsewhere.

Here's hoping the construction of the fence goes smoothly and quickly!

I've only seen it one time. Watched it take a hen, with me standing there. I didn't have my gun with me that time. I have had it ever since, but of course, haven't seen it again. Last night, I fed at about 6:00p and went back to lock up at 7:00. The yote got a hen in between. I looked into some "alternative" methods, but am afraid it would cause canine colateral damage..... if you know what I mean.......
