The Old Folks Home

Whoa, whoa, whoa hoss. Let's see if we can keep the tomato plants alive long enough to actually get a tomato off them. I have never succeeded in getting a full sized tomato yet. I was able to grow the pear shaped little yellow tomatoes when we lived in Florida. My biggest thing is I forget to water and it rained so much in Florida that my neglect didn't kill them. I have actually grown cukes and peppers before but we are going to start slow and see if we can get some fruit this year. If that is successful, then we can talk about these strange things you call seeds.

Arielle. I have owned a Pitt Bull. Loved, loved, that dog. They have about the same rep as the Rotti's I think. But I'll tell you what, that dog has been one of my favorite dogs I've ever owned. Very sweet and loving to our family. Great watch dog..what a bark when strangers came around. Wonderful with them when they were invited in. We had him from the time he was young until he died of old age. I can't say enough good about this breed. Need to check out what mom and dad are like, how they are raised. Makes a difference. Of course, like it would with most dogs.

Quote: PItts are the one breed I'm not sure about.

I love the pic above of the goldn pup-- that was my ANgels face at 11 3/4 years old. He still had the puppy face. Actually I thought he looked like a harbor seal when he pushed his ears back leaving just a nubbin in view. Very seal like.

Arielle, if it is just the "reputation" that is making you hesitate on a pitt, I would tell you to reconsider the reputation. Yes they are the breed of "choice" for people who illegally engage in dog fighting but I would argue that is not the breed's fault. The few that I have known have been very sweet dogs but they were also raised in a loving environment so they never knew how to fight. Think of the reputation of rotties in the eyes of people who have never owned one. Many people are very scared of them because of their size and their reputation as attack/guard dogs.

Put a recurring reminder for every ____ days on your outlook or crackberry calendar. I do all my potted tomatoes daily in the summer, they dry out quickly. We get a lot of hours of sun, though. It's light from around 0400 to 2100.

I have no idea what your summers are like but I'd assume daily for you seeing that 93 degrees the first day there. In April.

Arielle no wonder they grabbed up that very pregnant dog, they only had to care for her a short time before making big bucks selling her rare x pug puppies. Imagine what they would look like.

In our area Puggles are very popular - they are basically fawn with black masks but, bay like a hound - a lot. That seems to be the only beagle part of them.

I dogsat a puggle a few years ago. The only "hunting" it did was in the cats litter box. A few hours later it was having intense GI issues.

It was cuteish enough, but a sufficiently bad enough experience with the breed to make me never want to see one again.

OMG the multi button SUCKS!

Don;t forget that before AKC screws them up, there are other breeds that are Rare and not listed. Check the Rare Breed listings and you might find something cool. I had Rotties before AKC and Corsi before too. I hate the changes they make to the breeds.

As far as a Pitt. They are wonderful and you can find some great breeders through APBA

OK, back to my hatch!!!!! Have a Wellie out so far!!!!!!!!!

SCG we are watering every day per your directions on planters. Yeah it has gotten warm here. Hoping this summer is not as dry as last summer. Pugs are kinda cute but never wanted to own one

My daughter has two rescue pugs. One very neat but physically challenged dog and his psychotic brother. Who would ever have thought that such little dogs have a high incidence of hip dysplasia in addition to other physical anomalies.
