The Old Folks Home

I highly recommend a pet rat. I know, I know, rats are hated by most people. If you can get past the tail, which seems to be the most objectionable part of a rat, they make great pets. They are affectionate, smart, clean, they don't bite and are very gregarious. They are supposed to only live 3 or 4 years, but we had one that lived nearly 6 years and is still greatly missed. They are not much for home protection, but if you threw it at an intruder, it might scare them off! (jk)

I'm way behind here, but I loved the rat I had a couple of years back. One of the best pets I've owned! They are clean, and folks just don't think of that. They picture the street rat whenever they are mentioned.

Angel was a female hooded rat very similar to this (not my pic, borrowed from the net.)

Love this one. The coloring is very cute.

Wisher, I'm still dying ... that DUI video...is a hoot! Finding that one to put on fb. I have to come up with something once in a while for that site.

Good morning everyone and thank you to all who have served and all who continue to serve.

I was unable to locate a goat for sale at the show yesterday, but there was plenty of cute:

And a buck that reminded me of ZZ Top.

We're going to go out to one of the breeders next Sunday and see if they have a goat that we like from the kids they have for sale.

I was going to plant my garden today but it's going to be in the mid 30s tonight here. IT IS ALMOST JUNE! This is getting ridiculous. My tomatoes are getting squished in the cold frame because they can't grow up anymore.

SCG It's great that your going to pick out another goat!
I don't know what is going on with this weather anymore either.
Snow and cold here and there still this late in the year! CRAZY!!!

Here are the newest additions to my waterfowl flock. First, the box in which the 3 goslings and 8 Barred Rock chicks (presumably all male) arrived.

Meet Zoe, Dora and Ariel.
.

Then a couple shots as soon as they got settled.

.

Because I now have a 10' by 15' pool for the waterfowl, I took the "turtle sandbox" kiddie pool and scrubbed it clean, then put it on my deck. It sat in the sun - about half full - until the water was as warm as bathwater.

.
...

Although all three girls did some submarine swimming, Ariel (the smallest) was the most excited about swimming underwater.

Today, I added more water and a concrete block for resting, but haven't taken those photos yet. It's overcast, and I am not sure the water will warm up enough for a swim today. Fooey.

This is so darn cute. I wish I could have ducks. Looks so fun. Watching ducks and chickens, how would that be?

What fun!!!

Yup, I have hot water piped to an outside faucet!! Well used!! In the winter I put warm water in a pool for the ducks.

As day to Remember and Reflect, Thank you to all who have served and their families.

This morning the boys and I attended the Memorial Day parade in our town. My son is now in boy scouts and attended in full uniform along with every scout master ( there are a lot) and he rode in an army truck ( use donated by local man) and guess how many boys were walking??? If you guess ed none, you would be right. ( Boys and toys). At the service one of the BS presented his Eagle Scout project and it received the loudest applause. He had, with the help of many hands, referbished the old crosses and added with name plates for each. Each had a POW-MIA flag flying. We do have wonderful young people!
