Snow breaks/diverters pretty much only work with metal roofs. The "breaks" are not used up here, even on metal, because nobody wants 18" if ice sitting on their roof. Diverters are used above stovepipes so the sliding snow won't tear the chimney down when it slides, but that's about it.

I don't have them on my garage metal roof, where the snow/ice slides off nobody is in danger, short steep bank nobody
walks there. I see why they are necessary though, when the snow/ice decides to let loose, tons of it comes crashing down usually in one big sheet, it would kill somebody. My parents have metal roof on their house, stops just above where the back side door is. Still a chance of eating a giant slab of snow if your on either side though.

Oh, how wonderful! Having three boys myself, this scares me to death. Of course, it also scares me to think they may never find someone. I guess Moms just worry. My oldest (18) is at the beach today with a friend from work. His first out of town trip without me. I sent him out the door yesterday morning with smiles and reminders to have fun and be safe. As soon as I closed the door, I broke down in tears. I can't imagine handing him off to another woman. Stay strong, Cyn, if we're lucky, she will be a wonderful wife and love him almost as much as you do. She will treat him with respect, supporting him and never causing him heartache. If she doesn't, I'll help you hide the body..........
