The Old Folks Home

I just bought a very nice coat for the eldest from the second hand place... It has a nicely enbroidered name, and a "thanks for 25 years as janitor" embroidered on it! :lau

Dang :idunno I forget his new name.

I also use cornstarch to stop bleeding on my birds.

I lost one of my favorite hens today. DH found her on the floor in the coop. She was my Blue Andalusian I hatched from NYREDS eggs. She and my splash Andalusian were my favorite hens.

So sad

How old was she and do you have any idea why she died? I had a Partridge Chantecler that died similarly at 21 months. Fine at 8 AM, dead but still warm and pliable at 11 AM, no obvious external (nor palpable) issues. Didn't think to do an autopsy so I really don't know why she died.

We both have tracfones for when we travel. No point otherwise because we can't even get a signal until we are half way to town,

Same here! Sometimes we can get a single bar in the house (if you are in the right place). And sometimes texting works. I just turn mine off when I get out of the "tower line of sight" on the way home. Thanks for reminding me, I forgot when I got home 3 hours ago. Oddly, it had 2 bars in the mudroom!

Spouse made a comment about the youngest going into town yesterday with pants that had one (yes, only one)

Hate to break it to you Al but they sell NEW pants that have rips, large holes and are bleached enough to weaken the fabric such that they will probably rip further the first (and every subsequent) time they are worn. And of course you pay extra for all that "value add".

I count myself fortunate that my children were never interested in such "fashionable" things.

Shouldn't be hard to remember his name, it is on his new coat! Though he may not respond right off when you call to him.

Yes, holes in your pants! The style for so many now. I remember when my mom was so upset with me for .. walking..on the back of my long bell bottom pants. It was the thing, to have little bits of string dangling behind. Wow, that sounds terrible now that I think of it. And.. I remember putting a brand new pair of jeans in the tub..every pair of jeans into the tub...and pouring bleach on them to get ...the... look! This was the 70's!

My kids are properly deprived, so they have no interest in if their clothes match, or are fashionable, or stained. They are excited that they have clothes that cover the important body parts. They are thrilled if the clothes are warm and comfy. :D
