So happy! We were not able to taste the goats when we bought them..


Glory to God... We DO like their milk. Whew!

(Yes, we had tried goat milk, just not the milk from these goats.)


Poor kids, we didn't get a milk stand together yet... So it is taking two kids to milk each goat.

So I'm assuming you just got the one doe and her kid? And is the kid also a doe(ling)? I ask because I can only see the one adult in the picture. Yet you said you milked "them" which would indicate more than one adult as a kid wouldn't be in milk... Gettin' old... so confused...

I was worried that if I put wood chips and shavings in the back, that the one kid (male ) might be an idiot and eat it.

The first goat stop gave us a flake of hay... (I was not about to ruin my expensive hay as bedding, but was happy to use free hay as bedding) so that did help with the pee.

The second doe that we picked up is the one that came with the "free" kid.

The second doe is older, and calmer, and was happy to lie down with her kid for the entire trip.... Oh, except when she stood up to pee and poop while we were stopped at a gas station.

The first doe, Mocha, has a giant udder. Not so big that it will cause problems (I hope), and the kids loved milking her. Each teat is like a small banana.

The older doe Holly has a cute udder, with smaller teats, and so is a bit harder for the kids to milk, but at least I don't have to worry about it.

The kids think that Holly's milk tastes a bit better, but they like both.

It will be interesting to see how the kids deal with the new milking chores.

My kids have ALWAYS had chores, but they have never before had chores that had to be done, on the dot.

The kids decided on milking times of 8:30am and 9:00 pm

We shall see how good they are.

OMG. He did a good job of not busting out laughing. I'm sure he had severe bite marks in his tongue after that.

Almost like she could only think of 3 countries. Not that that was an answer to the question.

Al, glad you got the goat and got home safely and I'm a bit disappointed there isn't a goat story to tell.
