Spoke to BF. He got home around midnight, the bird was no longer under the coop - it was in the corner behind the turtle sandbox. He marked his territory against foxes and scared the guinea back under the coop. I was up around 0440 and the guinea was gone.

The comment about the birds being surprisingly agile at night is spot on.

Maybe you rounded up someone elses guinea last night. Lone Guineas will be attracted to a flock....

Those are the dry scratches on the tree but the tree is covered with them the dry ones are easier to photograph what makes that
