The Old Folks Home

When I've had two eggs in a day (from the same bird) one of the egg's shells tends to be quite a bit weaker than the other. I've had it happen with two birds. One lays a balloon egg (sac and no shell) and the other has a crumple shell, which is very fragile to the touch. They also are not necessarily a morning/night scenario.

You all think you know what a predator is, and all you got is bears, bobcats, lynx, raccoons, mink, skunks, and weasels.

WOW! Ever been to the restaurant 'The Catfish Place' in St Cloud? Foods good nothing special, mostly deep fried, all fresh caught catfish from the Okeechobee. Their gator, turtle, froglegs, shrimp, are not farm raised either.
I buy vacuum sealed and frozen gator there, few pounds of the tail meat and a five pound box of the dark which is cubed like cubed steak. Awesome stuff on the grill.

They are HAPPILY willing to HELP!!! That's what. NORMAL children avoid any semblance of work and b1tch the whole time they are doing something. I should know, my younger one is 4 years older than your oldest. STILL avoids anything resembling helping around the house until "voluntold" to do it. The older one isn't any better. She doesn't actually complain, she is just very passive aggressive about it.

Alaskan after the first "oy vey," I think you progress to "Oy Gavault" not sure what that means but, sounds worse.

oy gevalt. Yiddish phrase. exclamation of surprise, incredulity, or simply used to emphasize a statement. often used when kvetching. alt. spelling: oy gevaldt. - source UrbanDictonary

.... What the heck is a 'frozen dairy dessert'!? .....

What is it? It is

that's what it is. Just like "American Cheese".

Speaking of cheese Al, have your boys make mozzarella. I gather it is really easy.

Pretty much all the Friendly's around here shut down.

I've had more eggs in the nest than hens but I usually attribute that to a leftover from the day before. If one has light in their coop or it is an extremely bright moonlit night, I can see them coming off the roost to lay at night. There just isn't room for more than one egg in the uterus and it spends about 20 hours there.

I get, ON OCCASION, 2 eggs from one girl. Mostly it is one laid from the roost overnight, then another later the next day. Then USUALLY a day off. Anyone that says they have hens that lay 2 eggs a day pretty much every day, is smoking something.

And now you know why, among other reasons, we don't live in Florida

That is 4 chamois colored Appenzeller Spitzhauben chicks, and one that I think was supposed to be a silver crossed to chamois? But its color is wild! Coolest thing ever!

I might even end up with a couple more chicks... Give me two days and I will tell ya.

Can't tell ya how happy I am, I have been so very wanting this color, I think it is the prettiest color to ever sit on a chicken. :love

Here is a photo from the internet, so you all know why I am drooling:
