Pass the drool bucket - those are absolutely STUNNING! Can't wait to see how your babies come along. That is 4 chamois colored Appenzeller Spitzhauben chicks, and one that I think was supposed to be a silver crossed to chamois? But its color is wild! Coolest thing ever!
I might even end up with a couple more chicks... Give me two days and I will tell ya.
Can't tell ya how happy I am, I have been so very wanting this color, I think it is the prettiest color to ever sit on a chicken.![]()
Here is a photo from the internet, so you all know why I am drooling:

Me either - I've been becoming increasingly intrigued with them as a breed and toying with the idea of "someday" - I like that they have a head dress that isn't as extreme as a polish, etc - just enough to be unique and have character but not overpowering.Wow, they are so gorgeous I think I'm going to plotz. I never knew they came in different colors.
I get, ON OCCASION, 2 eggs from one girl. Mostly it is one laid from the roost overnight, then another later the next day. Then USUALLY a day off. Anyone that says they have hens that lay 2 eggs a day pretty much every day, is smoking something.
Absolutely - the key phrase being on occasion as opposed to the claim that it is happening every day, over and over.
We have gators around here, but the biggest ones that I am aware of are only 10 - 12 feet long.
"only" 10-12 feet she says......
