The Old Folks Home

We hit low 70's today EUREKA!! But, that's the top of my comfort range. Tomorrow ZOO trip -

. My favorites are the Ice cream shop, the "Woof" store that has billion or so stuffed dogs and cats and t shirts, and signs and other stuff - most of it way beyond my budget - but, love to look., and then I also love LUNCH, and walking the beautiful grounds.
The actual zoo part: if you are outside, the animals are IN. If you are In, the animals are OUT.

Some of the major buildings(exhibits) are very old and have deliberately rocky, uneven floors to simulate real conditions - also low lighting. A combination that helped me decide they were off limits to this senior. But, still lots to see and do, and many souvenir shops and sit down restaurants and push cart vendors. The hot dogs are to die for. My brother is threatening lunch at the Buffalo burger place

Aw, I want to go to Brookfield....

I'll have to settle for lunch at Portillo's with DD and DS and a trip to Costco...then Blackhawks hockey!!
Have fun, Diva!! Say Hi to the giraffes for me (the coolest animal at a zoo-giant eyes with loooong eyelashes and a physique that proves God has a sense of humor). It will be a beautiful day and I know you'll have fun even if you have to go to the buffalo burger place!

Not going to try to catchup.... Today would have been an Eggcellent Zoo day... San Diego Zoo is awesome. and too big to see in one day. I used to get Zoo passes for the year then wed spend a day or two each month and concentrate on areas of interest. passes include the wild animal park ... (what ever they are calling it these days)

It was middle eighties today the grasses on the hillsides are going to seed. Yellow and green... Lots of flowers though.

I been in and out of Urgent care with both the grandmas.... First Grandma with her paper thin skin. flipped a blanket for the bed came up under the handle of her walker and ripped up a flap of skin about the size of your palm. Son did triage cleaned it and wrapped it. It was about bed time so we went in the next day. Shes done it before on the same arm. All is ok Urgent care at Kaiser is new and they had a full on ER setup.

Next was mom about three days later. Shed been workiing with some landscapers to remove all the green from her back yard and replace it with rocks. She didnt tell anyone that she was getting sick. Finally she called me and she sounded horrible. I took her to urgent care. Yep Brhonchitis. Came home with meds and she was a happy camper.

Now me.... I dont like hospitals and I really dont like EMergency rooms and Urgent care rooms because the concentrate ALL the sick people in one place. Yep now I am coming down with it. I suspect it will devolve into Bronchitis. thank goodness I already have a doctors appointment on Tuesday.

TWO weeks ago I was given a prescription for Glucose monitoring device and all the stuff that goes with it. My insurance Said NO to the device but approved the Lancetts and the test Strips..... What the Bleep.... The two are useless with out the one.... Insurance finally told the Pharmacy to give me a Phone number to call to get a free one. That took two days. Now I get the phone number and its a supplier for Diabedes supplies. Meter was free... Yay. they said it would take two working days.... It took a week to get here. Arrived on Friday.

I tried to read the instuctions that night but couldnt face it. I did the setup this morning and did my first test. Not bad hardly any more pain than touching the end of a pin. I tested before breakfast and one hour after. I didnt get lunch because mom had no groceries and she needed me to taker her to the store.

I am tired of doing for people.... I need a break....

Love mom but shes an energy vampire and I have no defenses right now. Grandma prefers my son... she prefers men any way. I am just someone who failed no husband, no government job, no savings. I am too much like my dad.... Thank GAWD. he is where I got my strength.

Its a spiral I go though periodically. And yes I know its my internal dialogue not reality....

@perchie.girl

Forgot to say thanks for the horse firetruck videos.

I made the kids watch them, they were both very cool as well as educational.

You are welcome. There are a bunch of historic videos on YouTube I have always loved watching how things were done. As well as the old movies shot with a hand crank camera. I am still stunned at the quality they could produce.

And if you need a break you should take it I know how it is my mom takes care of both her parents my grandpa had a stroke and hasn't been the same and my grandma is a handful.

I feel like I have accomplished a lot this weekend--I processed three cockerels!

I watched a video on skinning them and this time I paid attention to the part about cutting out the back bone. That makes gutting so easy! Even with these trader Joes cockerels. They are not huge at 14 weeks old,

Could you share the link to that video please?
