The eggs made it today but they were not packed using the "skyline" method. Even though the box was fine, only 10 of 24 Arkansas blue eggs made it. 9 of the 12 marans eggs made it though.I have one set that is a week old... But my incubators are busting at the seams... I need to candle tonight, so that
I can toss clears etc. so I can hatch in a single layer.
I have eggs on the counter that I want to stuff in... They will go in the second that the ones in the incubator hatch...so
Saturday or Sunday.
I am debating if I should try to help the shipper(from BYC) pack the eggs better. I have run into resistance with this before. It is sad because I have shipped eggs using this method and had one egg crack one time. That box had forklift tine dents in it too.
Oh Bother! Eggs packed like this and then the shipper will blame USPS.
The good news is that USPS was gentle enough that the air cells are good and the eggs do not look to be too scrambles so I should get a good hatch out of the ones that were not smashed.
I tried eating it at home but, it had small pieces of hard chocolate in it - feh!. I planned to put it down the kitchen drain. Got an instant attack of sleepiness and took a couple hours nap. Woke up remembering the ice cream on kitchen table.- figured it had leaked over table & floor. It was intact but, all liquidy - perfect for descending down the drain and the chocolate gunk stayed behind in the mesh drain basket.
How could they do that too you!!! The horror!!! The agony!!!!
even the kids won't eat it.
that is a truly sucky success rate.
