The Old Folks Home

Well, last hatch of the year is hatching.

I have shipped eggs, from a most drool worthy breeder, bantam white leghorns, standard sized dark brown rose comb, and standard sized rose comb whites.

I also tossed in my standard Black Ameraucanas and bantam Wheaten Ameraucanas.

So.... Last night one of the bantam Ams popped out. Mine are cute little buggers. They hatch white with sometimes a little dark spot on their heads.

No other pipps or anything. Silly eggs.

So glad though, that this is my last hatch....it is my last hatch, it is my last hatch, it is my last hatch..... Except

The local grocer had pork shoulders on sale. I love pork. Just came out of the oven and have already had 2 helpings. Wanted to get it cooked before the heat of the day... @76 now, low-mid 80s forecast. Need to get back out on the lawn tractor... more mowing to do

High in the 40's today and we haven't mowed yet this year... the grass is just about all green now...

Had to go back to the local farm store and buy 20 more bags of pellets for the stove. It just refuses to heat up outside.

My hen looks like she is spread out for lock down and she is softly clucking to the eggs. So maybe she will get something to hatch.

For her sake I hope she does, she sure wants some babies.

Scg so sorry it is not warming up there.

It is not warming up a whole lot here. It does then it dips back into the 4-50's. Just can't manage yet.
I am going to set up another kiddie pool this weekend. I have the float and pool I just need the potting soil to move a couple squash and tomato plants into larger growing area's.

Same here SCG, 40s rainy and feeding our outside wood boiler.
I do have onions peas and spinach going in the garden though.
Spent last week in Florida, 90s, and actually didn't feel hot.
Made it feel colder here though..

And you don't have nearly as much stored cr@p if you keep moving. I swore my "next" move would be to 6' under so I wouldn't have to deal with all the stored cr@p and piles and piles of cr@p on every horizontal surface. I failed in that and now I have a bunch of cr@p to deal with that isn't mine and those who should be deciding what can be tossed (being unused for at least 10 years) aren't willing to even look at it. So all those piles will be in boxes until the next move. Hopefully THAT one will be 6' under because I don't want to ever look at that stuff again.

Move often and live light!
True to an extent. DH was the one to unpack after the move to Utah (well the majority of the unpacking) so there are things in the shed we haven't seen in six years that now it's just too late to get rid of (since the company is paying for the move we will just have them load it on the truck and deal with it on the other end). When I finally get to unpack when we get settled on the east coast I am going to lighten the load some. Anything that didn't get used in Utah will be donated to Goodwill if it is useful or tossed if it isn't. I hate dragging things around the country because they became invisible "wallpaper" once they got put away. It will be a good cleanse during the next unpacking.

Only got 2 hours sleep last night. instead of mowing, I spent the day dozing in my recliner and sweating. Just celebrated all the work I didn't get done today with a vanilla milkshake
