Those are beautiful! My all time favoritist breed ever. Don't know if I'll ever own any again, but reds are what I grew up on, all my family ever had. Wish dad still had his, hard to believe there isn't many left. His were many generations hatching and rearing their own, laid lots of eggs on minimal feed, only some cracked corn and free range. Only chicken we ever ate back then. I don't ever remember them buying chicken.

Panic is revving up.

I am leaving spouse and kids for three weeks to go see my ornery and not yet dead, could hold on another year, sickly father.

I hate travel.... I hate new things... I hate lots of people... The house will probably be exploded, and all livestock dead before I get back home.
At least spouse cooks well... So spouse and kids should be alive when I return.

I have to wash my clothes... I have to find my clothes... I have to find clean warm weather clothes that fit me AND do not have stains OR tears

Dont wanna.

Maybe I won't, maybe I will just get one set of travel clothes, and be done with it. At least that way, being old and stinky and crumpled, I am less likely to get robbed.

There is no coffee at my parents house ...except for 12 year old folgers crystals...

I HATE spending money... But they also have no coffee maker, AND there are no proper small mom and pop coffee shops down there, just Starbucks

where they use all sorts of wierdo words and then hand me something that doesn't taste right..... Or McDonald's coffee...they have that too

And my mom and baby sis have been loosing their minds over my dad, he is being SUPER difficult... I am supposed to show up and somehow help.

At least I know where a pair of summer/city shoes are... I wont have to show up in the big city with my clunky all year/winter boots.

I think we're soul mates.

Wear whatever you want. You won't see most of the people ever again and your family has to continue to love you. Besides, you live in Alaska, you have to give the locals something to talk about.

Whenever I have to go to starbucks (ie when traveling) I go in and order a "large hot tea, black." They translate that into whatever their lingo is pretty well, most of the time, and I get handed a (usually scalding) hot tea that isn't too weird. Granted, there's a lot more weird ways to screw up coffee than there are ways to screw up tea, but just ask for what you want, I'm sure it won't kill you.

Good luck.

Alaskan I am visiting any youngest daughter and babysitting for her this week. They have all kinds of coffee but no coffee maker. So I got some real coffee and boil some water and put my coffee ground in a napkin and pour the water over the grounds into my cup. 1tbsp of grounds per cup. :)
Have a good visit with your family and enjoy it. Don't worry about everyone else.

Wisher your rir's are beautiful. :)

Sorry for your strife Al... When my dad was alive, any time he'd get some 1/2 cocked idea or scheme in his mind, or get locked down, afraid to move forward on something that needed to happen, I was the one who got the call. It didn't end well WRT the rest of the family... I, through personal choice, only speak with one sister anymore, and that is infrequently. I don't give a **** about the rest of them. Don't have the time, energy, or inclination to deal with them. Family isn't always something one HAS to love, OR accept... Just MHO. Hope you have a safe trip, manage to find some acceptable (clean/undamaged) clothes and coffee, and return to your life to find it basically unchanged and happily moving forward.

@Alaskan

Sorry about your sick Father.

Get one of these:

They use #2 cone filters and make great coffee--the cone is less then $5.00. Filters are less and the find some ground coffee--a tea kettle and a coffee mug--Coffee!
