The Old Folks Home

We are going to have Hamburger steaks with onion gravy, fried squash and a salad with lettuce from the garden.
Tomorrow I have got to cook a pot of turnips my grow bag is so full they are laying over I guess I will make some black eyed peas and corn bread and some pork chops.

Amazing that you have a garden producing. It must not freeze there. If I plant in April I have to be very careful about a late freeze. Doesn't happen too often but if it does wipeout.
Turnips might work.

Some of the weedy things here can kill you, and not from parasites.

I just spent an hour with the goats - they hadn't really seen me the last 2 weeks. Pip, who is a lover, after she browsed the woods for about 15 minutes came over to me, pushed my legs open and put her head and neck around mine. It was really sweet.

Had she not just eaten poison ivy.

She then wanted me to get the brush, so I did and spent about 20 minutes while she stood dead still and just brushed her. She's never been that good, before. While she enjoys being brushed, it's kind of a game of "chase" sometimes where she likes to wander around while I brush her. Even BF came out and mentioned how much she was enjoying it and how good she was being.

Caramel? Yeah, that's the "don't touch me" goat. She spent the whole hour trying to eat the few ornamental plants I actually have.

Hope your not too allergic. I'd like to get a goat or two or three. Lots of brush for them to eat. Just have to figure out the fencing as the neighbors frown on goats eating their garden. Will have to get rid of fox tails first though. And then there's the predators.

Peter re: thin shelled eggs, you can post at "chicken behaviors and egg laying, and see if they can offer up some advice.

Thanks, I'll check it. I'm a little more concerned about the genetics of these as the guy I got the eggs from doesn't bring in new lines very often. And there may not be many lines of CCL to chose from. If she would put the amount of rough spots on the entire egg it would be a decent egg

The newest import is supposed to be much better.

It is sad that GFF has to keep importing them.

Maybe it's the weather here. Mine CCL are crazy wild

the TJ's are much more calm, and they are laying very well. Some misshapen eggs from them but overall good.

The TJs are great!

I am treating mine with Corid. A couple of them started having symptoms.
