Scg I love strawberry jam.
Sometimes I like to put an extra tbsp. of lemon juice in it to jaz it up a bit. We love it.

That sounds amazing. Wish we had some cherry trees. A few years back someone sent me seeds from their tree but they never sprouted here.

It was worth a shot.

I do have some apple trees we planted 3 years ago, hopefully in the next 3 years we'll be getting old style apples off them. I have a lot of apple recipes.

Last batch of plain strawberry jam is in the canner now. It's hotter than hades in this kitchen... but the results are worth it.

I used to have a cherry tree, but never got a single cherry off it... the birds took every last one. Used to have peach and pear trees when I live in VA Beach... that was some killer fruit. The pears produced so heavily that I had to prop up the branches, & cleaning up the ground and dodging yellow jackets and other wasps was a nightmare. But watching drunk insects from eating fermented pears was pretty cool. Next property I buy I hope to develop a true orchard with lots of different fruit trees.
My Dh loves cherries and I did not want to wait for the trees so I bought the Nankin cherry bushes. I am hoping next year to have some cherries.
You guys might be able to grow these in pots and get some cherries.

And I have a slew of Rasberry crazy ants invading my prorerty. 2 different exterminator companies had to refund my $.
Now I cant get my bees.
Anybody have any ideas?
I know 1 of the things they sprayed was Talstar...It nor the granules worked.
Use grits, dry grits. No spray will kill ants. I have been having to hand pollinate everything so far. But I have cantaloup growing!

That Lola song, kinda like the song the Binghamton NY Ross Park Zoo (fifth oldest in nation) uses in their radio ad. Well they use parts of the song anyway, 'Take a walk on the wild side'... makes me laugh every time I hear it, always wonder if they know the real song Lol!

Thinking of planting them myself after having a couple hundred $$ of trees die...

A tad bit gluttonous and a lot bit mean, but...

Had some major strawberry jam slathered on my homemade thick sliced amish sweet white bread for breakfast.

It is really good.

I promise to be good until blueberry season and spiced blueberry jam gets made.

I'm going to make 2 more loaves of bread today. My neighbor and a widow in my community (who quilts) will get one with a jar of jam today.

Boy that looks good.

Last year I made some sweet bread and added some blueberries and pecans. It was so good!

Strawberry rhubarb jam, no need for lemon, mmm :-D
My favorite when I was a kid was my moms chokecherry jam, haven't had it in yrs.
When we were kids gramma would round up all us grandkids and force us into hard labor, boy we hated it. All us, Gram, few mean Aunts, would fill up a truck bed with five gallon buckets of blackberries. She made the best blackberry pies and jam, but we still took no joy in the day.
We all still do it with our own families today but on a lot smaller scale. I'm sure none of them make it a whole day event either, I'm good with a couple hrs of heat, bugs, scratches, kids whining cause they just saw a huge pile of bear poop...'nah that's not bear poop, it's um, racoon'.. but dad it's the size of a racoon and full of blackberry seeds.
We didn't have bear around here when I was a kid.
