The Old Folks Home

My baby sister stresses about loosing her pets... So she spaces out their ages.

She has three dogs with spaced ages....but her cats, she likes raising in pairs... She just this summer lost the last one from her first pair.... Sad sweet story...

When I was down there this summer I was happy to see the cat that I remembered from 10 years back (a dark calico, and I am very partial to calicos). When I first showed up she had three cats, the one old lady calico, and two young cats (I think three years old).

But towards the end of my stay the calico came up to the barn (the cats all sleep in the feed room) and was in horrid pain and had all sorts of things wrong with it. Anyway, my sister in tears called my cousin to come over and take care of the poor old girl. That night, the kids and my sister went to bed still sniffling. My sister though was woken up by the dogs barking and went to see what was going on. The dogs had treed a tiny malnourished kitten! (All of my sister's cats are fixed).

My sister took the kitten to the vet the next day to have it checked out. The kitten was tiny, skinny, and malnurished but nothing was wrong with it that some feed wouldn't fix. That little wild kitten tamed down in one day flat into the sweetest thing. (My sister keeps the kittens in the house until they are mostly grown, and then lets them be barn cats.)

Anyway, the vet also had a box of free kittens, one of the free kittens was a calico....

So, my sister took the calico home to be a companion for the wild kitten that showed up on the night that she lost the old calico......

Sorry for your loss peeps! I hope some joy creaps in to light up those sad clouds. :(

Alaskan, I'm afraid I was channeling you again. I was in Walmart with an ad match for 1.99 carton of Dean's Ice Cream, I also had a $ 1.00 cpn. there were not many flavors to choose from - but, it was a great deal so I HAD to take one. Got home and realized I had picked mint with chocolate .
Yikes, I was eating it and then it hit me that I don't like that flavor.

Are you trying to use mind control on me???? I thought we were 'buds.' This incident has shaken me to the core. I immediately switched to my other purchase of Blue Bunny toasted almond w/choc. ice cream - much better. Also found I had purchased milk chocolate brownie mix - what when we've been having 85 to 90 degrees days??

Oh Diva! Didn't you read the birthday wishes I sent you? I wished for you much ice cream with none being mint chocolate chip!!

I just finished off my b&J's chunky monkey! :drool It is healthful too! Fruits and fiber! Banana and walnuts! Also chocolate for those uh.... Mood uppers...yeah... :ya

When my son was little, he loved Chunky Monkey. Now that he's a "growed up," fellow he prefers those strange ice cream shops with weird flavors like kale raisin, or monkey brains. Kids, go figure!!

Such a sad/sweet story Al. Nothing heals the heart broken from a love lost more quickly than a new love found. Especially if that love truly needs you (like a starving kitten).

Peeps - A prayer for your broken heart. Looks like you gave your family members a wonderful life. So very sorry

I quilted and finished another top this weekend. I had made the top months ago and it has been sitting in my sewing room, mocking me to get the skills necessary to complete it.
Very beautiful!!! I didn't notice until I clicked to enlarge the picture that the cardinals were not all the same material...love it!!

@chickisoup

Agreed...

Also interesting, they can't figure out where it came from. They asked neighbors and looked around. No other kittens, no mama cats.

My Grandma had problems with cat and kitten dumping. She lived in a small town--un incorporated--about 5 miles from a small City. Each Spring people from the City would drive down and drop off extra kittens. Grandma took care of as many of them as she could.
