The Old Folks Home

Thanks chickadoodles! I was just thinking about building a website for my strawbale gardens! gryeyes, gave me an idea to use for a site title,
"Carolina Garden Envy"
What do you think? I love building websites and it would be a fun way to document my gardens every season and share the fun!
I planted my tomatoes in my other garden this year, but I am thinking about planting them in straw next year.
I planted vine type plants this year, and upright plants will require some support. I'm thinking I will get an 16 ft. section of cattle panel and set it between a row of bales. I might cut the panel into 8 ft. sections so that it won't be too long. The cattle panel would require additional support so I can get my hubby to drive a couple of T- Posts on the ends to hook the panel to. I think that would work great for cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes. I believe cukes and tomatoes grow well as companion plants too.
That is a cute name for a website! I think your idea for the fencing and t-posts will work nicely.
I am growing a few cucs, tomatoes, peppers, squash and some herbs this year that is about it. I love growing my own stuff and having the feeling of satisfaction from the harvest!
I can hardly wait till all my fruit trees produce! I am fertilizing like crazy! Peaches, pears, apples, plums. I am still adding to our orchard each year!
Good luck with your website! let us know when you get it done!

That would be rat#3 caught during the daytime today. They must be getting really hungry to come out during the day.

I also was finally able to get a dry day and get BF out to help tip the duck house over and install their new Brinks Home Security Flooring (TM). Hopefully it's rat proof: I moved it from its previous location and the rat holes under it were crazy. No more dirt floor coops for me.

Just so you are not surprised-- I've seen rats tunnel under paving, under rubber stall mats-- any place that a tunnel will hold it's shape. I'm praying I never have a rat problem again!!!!!!

They can tunnel under it but not get in. It's thick wire that was pneumatic stapled into the duck house.

Thanks chickadoodles! What kind of herbs do you grow? My hubby is growing an orchard too. He started it year before last and has been adding fruit trees, figs, and blueberries! I will let you know when I get my website finished. I love to write and take photos. It will be fun to journal my gardening adventure.
Share some photos of your garden with us! I love to see other peoples gardens!
