The Old Folks Home

Google makes things to easy, that's how I guessed wisher Walking Dead pic. I'll just fess up.
I don't think I'd have ever guessed, I've seen him on the news, in a suit, clean shave, slicked back hair. I don't think I would have even recognized Ivanka if she was in this setting, out of place.
Politics aside I think it's pretty cool he would visit our fair and not bring attention to himself, just spend time with his family.

We visited that abandon cemetery on state forest land when we went out picking blackberries Saturday. I haven't been there in yrs.

These are the only stones left besides a couple small marble ones in the front. What happens when no one takes care of or cares, doubt something like this would happen in town where people can see them every day, at least I hope not. When I was a kid 30yrs ago there was probably 30 stones in nice rows. 20yrs ago they were starting to fall over, didn't look so good, even 10yrs ago I don't think it looked like this, this bare. Don't know what happened to them, maybe they fell over, got covered with yrs of leaves and sunk in the ground? Or people stole them? We didn't dig around to find out. Sure does look like that one was shot right in the middle before it was two pieces....hope it ricocheted.....

Those stones could still easily be found with a probe and careful digging, cleaning and epoxying what's broke. It can be done. The guy that ran ours last week is in the town across the river from me doing that right now - digging up the old stones, fixing them and resetting them. He was telling me how far down they were - a couple inches after 50 or so years.

We at least made all the local papers. Hopefully now people who want to help will know there's people trained to do it the right way (ie don't bleach or power wash!) and can (and are willing to) help.

I know people have been doing census of cemeteries. If this cemetery was posted in this shape on say Rootsweb/ancestry.com or on genweb.com people in that state would do all they could to try to salvage or see to it someone did something for that cemetery especially if they think some of their family might be buried there. I don't know were most genealogists would be with out old cemeteries to go through and find their loved ones. It's a shame this happens to old cemeteries.

Scg the work you are doing to help preserve those graves in that cemetery is more of a blessing to more folks than you will ever know. Worderful of you to help save that cemetery.

I'm heart sore tonight. I put my 6 month old cockerel with the neck injury down tonight. In the end it was all I could do for him.

He steadily got worse throughout the day, having seizures and finally being unable to stand or open his left eye. We believe he suffered some sort of neurological trauma. He is buried next to his dad who died earlier this spring. I'm going to miss Tweek. He was always funny, always friendly, loving to ride around on my shoulder, and always willing to hold a conversation with you.

Then tonight as I fed and watered I discovered I have a broody hen. If she sticks, tomorrow she gets bantam eggs to hatch.

Life does go on.

Thanks to all who tried to help. Best people around on BYC!

You did the best for him--He had a blessed life at you place!

Feeling like pictures... Not the best quality because they will NOT stand still!

My d'anver pullet. Bantam. I love the cream lacing.

Some of my Spitzhauben. I kept three cockerels, but that one front left will I think be the breeder. Yes, his tail to back angle is a bit too steep but everything else about him rocks. The girl on the right is a touch too poofy in top but everything else on her is perfect (body shape, coloring, crest, feet, etc.).

The Spitzhauben on the left is pretty darn awesome. The blue Ameraucana cockerel on the right :sick barfs as far as personality. Also his blue has no lacing at all (from what I understand you want lacing :idunno ) I have been strongly wanting blue chickens... Maybe I will just make some green eggers out of him and some Dominique hens and then dice him up!

Shiney, shiney, black and shiney! I kept 4 green egg layers, cross between my Black Ameraucana and Dominiques. Should be good layers too. They are nice, laid back and friendly.
