Latestarter so sorry about your wonderful companion. It is so hard to say goodbye to them. I lost my best pal psycho dog Skip (he was a Sheltie) a couple years ago and I have a feeling that my other Sheltie Laddie will be gone by spring. Skip was 13 and Laddie is 14 now. Not a bad age for either considering purebreds usually do not live as long. Blondie, our lab cross mutt is already 12 too. Gosh where does the time go? Hope your happy memories of your special girl are getting you through the toughest days.

Didn't grow that... It is hard for me to imagine a 52 pound rutabaga tasting good....

I did however get one first place and three second place ribbons for stuff I made. (just at the local fair, not the Alaska one)

I had to put to rest an old friend yesterday. She just wasn't doing well and it was her time. It's never easy but this has been the toughest one in my life.

She will be greatly missed.

There's only one thing that can fill the empty space that a lost dog leaves............ a puppy! People say, "No, I don't want another, my baby can't be replaced."

Yeah, well, the pain is not so bad when you have a new puppy licking your face, pulling on your pants leg, and needing lots of training. Just sayin'............

I can attest to that.

13 years ago I had to put my much loved Mini Schnauzer down due to kidney failure. He was only 9 and was blind. Such a brave little dog. After working for two days, I got a call from one of my aides who asked me to meet her at her brother's house. I asked her what was going on and she wouldn't answer, just said "be there". When I got there it was to find three 5 week old tiny puppies crawling around the grass. Mom was a standard Schnauzer dad was a terrier. They had been born in a barn and needed homes. My aide hugged me and said "I can't stand seeing you at work broken hearted and doing your best not to show it. We are too used to seeing you laughing. Take one of these little one's home. It will fill the hole in your heart.

I protested. It was too soon, all the while sitting down on the lawn with the puppies. I told her I'd let the puppies decide what I should do. Without prompting, one left it's siblings and waddled up to me. It crawled up into my lap, got comfortable and went to sleep. It was a little girl. I started crying, tears of happy as I picked her up and cuddled her.

Her name is Bunny. She has been a joy in our lives for 13 years. And yes, she plugged that hole my Schnauzer made very nicely.

Completely true though. We have 5 much spoiled and loved dogs in our life. The oldest is 13, the youngest a Bro and Sis Border Collie mixes that are 3. With the exception of Bunny they are all strays who found us.

This is Bubba and Sissy riding to the vets for their first check up. They were abandoned in a cattle pasture. Covered with poop and mud. The little boy laying down had been thrown out of a car and had torn pads on his front feet. They are always together even at the age of three.

I understand I had my Belgians for 25 years it has been very difficult
to bond to another after the loss of my last boy... I think finaly with the
new little pyr pup Snow I am bonding
