The Old Folks Home

Someone had a birthday!!

Very nice cake... For a minute I thought the tellow dots were chicks. :lau The local hardware store still uses dot matrix printers for all receipts. I love it.

I knew I was old the day I stood in line at a Kroger's store about 15 years ago and heard the sweet young thing ahead of me in line talking to the equally sweet young thing that was the cashier. They were talking about a song they had heard on the radio and one was trying to think of the name of it and when it was recorded. After listening to them struggle with it for a few minutes, not only did I give them the name of the song, but the year it was recorded (somewhere in the early 70s) the group that recorded it and the groups lead singer. They turned and looked at me in amazement.

Yes, I told them as I unloaded my cart, I really am that old.

I knew I was ancient when I took my kids to a museum... They had a rotary phone and my kids were all bug eyes over it.

I just had to explain what a 'party line' was to my older kids the other day, Lol.
Couple yrs ago our nephew gets in our '78 Catalina and asks 'what's that' pointing at the window crank. They don't make cars with them anymore?

:lau

Good grief! The window crank?

Actually... My parents got a new car and it doesn't even have proper locking buttons. You know, the stick things you push down to lock then pull up to unlock... It has tiny lights instead.

Dance time.....

:weee

And

:ya

So...I decided I really need to weed down the flock.... My main flock don't look 100% gorgeous... There is a tiny touch of feather picking...and I hate that... I like them to look good. -sigh-

So....

I decided I better sell whatever pullets I didn't have my heart set on breeding.....

I posted 4, and maybe 30 minutes later I had decided I could sell 8. I have sold 6, and maybe all 8.

It will be a total of $140 for 8 pullets, and one of those girls is missing her middle toenails  (hatch defect, not injury)

I am selling 4 EEs that I thought would lay green, but they have so little brown that you could easily call those eggs blue.... So I might as well sell them

I am selling two of the three Black Ameraucana pullets that survived the owl massacre because one is knock kneed and they both have white under their chins!! Sheesh! Also, they have gotten their tails picked.... Poor girls....

And the last two, the only slow sellers, are two Spitz, both with very close to zero crest and one with the missing toenails.

My 2005 Honda Civic Value edition has hand crank--Manual windows. I do not know if that was the last model for them but I suspect that the lower cost cars will still have them.

I'm not sure anymore, I know they still had them not too long ago, seems to be everything we thought was a luxury has become standard now, I like the hand crank, never fails. Standard, I don't think there is any stick shift trucks anymore.
Maybe everything isn't standard, girl I work with, brand new car broke down this summer, they gave her a brand new car for a loaner, no air conditioning...was mid 90's all week, Lol!

Sweet truck!

Jillion years back already... Maybe in 2000... Wanted to buy a new Subaru (the last one got totalld by a friend) and I could not buy a new one with a stick. NOT available.
