The Old Folks Home

I read somewhere that if you see one rat there are 10 you don't see

So how do you now get rid of your skunks??

I don't think I will ever get rid of skunks. They are my lot in life. The trap was undisturbed last night. I really think I only had the one because I had just started to see rat activity - new burrow being dug - versus having an established rat family in the burrow upon discovery.

SCG great idea with the cage - keeps chickens out.

I put it out at dark and bring it back in around 0400, so no chickens will get in it. That also reduces the risk of chipmunks, squirrels, etc, and of wild birds using it to cling to before going to the feeder, and potentially soiling all over it. I do the same thing with the poison when I feel I have to use it.

Good to "see" you and hear your story, latestarter. Can't wait for more updates.

Deb, thanks, you just solved a small mystery for me. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (not sure which book) makes a refrence to one of those songs with "how many roads must a man walk down" and I never quite understood, when I was scanning the lyrics you posted I had a moment of clarity!

micro, I used to be surprised at what passed for both literature, and art. Now, I'm more amazed at how the so-called experts in literature, and art became experts, who had the authority to proclaim them as experts, and what the so-called experts proclaim as literature, and art. What amazes me even more than that, is that anyone would believe them.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Dylan fan, but when I stop to think about all the truly great song writers over the last 50 years I can't help but wonder what designates Dylan's music and lyrics to be more Nobel worthy then say the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. I came "this close" to becoming an English lit major when I was considering career options in my senior year of high school. I also studied art for more years than I care to admit and yes, it is all a matter of preference when all is said and done.

Latestarter! Welcome back! You survived the big move. Now comes the fun part as you have to unpack everything you packed and find a place for it. After over a year since we officially finished moving I found more totes that need sorted that we stuck in our barn out of sheer desperation

. I swear moving, like having kids, is a job for young people with strong backs.

Glad you're back Latestarter.

Update: Yesterday we did the final walkthrough in our new home. The owner was there, so we got almost all of our questions answered. The only thing she could not answer, was my question about the valve settings on the pool/spa for the various functions, nor did she have the booklets with the information from when they had it installed. We know who installed it, so I'll contact them in the near future, and have them come show me the me the setting combinations, possibly bringing replacement literature on it.

Now for the bombshell. The gentleman that was handling our mortgage at the bank, had surgery. He had complications, and is terminally ill. He's on extended medical leave. Since it was pretty much a done deal, it was passed to a less experienced person to follow through with. She has been awful to work with, and started the process all over again. To top it off, she has been on vacation this week. She didn't bother finishing up with things before she went on vacation.

Yesterday, they changed the closing date. In a 4 hour period, the closing date got changed, not once, not twice, but 5 times. To make a long story short, we close Monday morning. The bank is also giving us $900.00 (on them, not us) towards moving expenses. We had everything scheduled to move in this weekend, since our help is family, and friends. Due to work, and various schedule conflicts, they are not available to help us at a later time. Since the bank messed all this up, they are giving us the money to hire help for the move.

I'm surprised Dh has any hair left.

What a mixture of good and bad news! Tums commercial! At least the end is in sight.
Been thinking about you. Hope your health has improved.

Not a big Dylan fan myself, he is a pretty cool person though. Knockin' on Heaven's Door is probably one of my favorites (cause I like the GNR cover :-D)
Like a rolling stone also. Well I guess he has a ton of good songs I like if I go through the long list.
Not to get political but IMHO for him to get a nobel literature prize is about as silly as Obama getting the nobel peace prize just months into his first term.

Banks are one of those things that given if the world being redesigned, I would vote for immediate elimination.

A bank we were using to do our accounting (they had an accounting department)told us when we found out we were missing almost 40,0000 dollars from our business account (employee theft/embezzlement combined with identity theft) that they weren't really accountants. This came from the bank president. Never mind that they were advertising their accounting department and we were paying them monthly for accounting services. Not much you can tell me about banks will surprise me at this point in time.

Decided that it was time to change my avatar and immortalized my much loved rooster "Red" who died this past spring.
