The turkey boys started to be jerks last night. I turned my back in the coop run and they came after me.

Well... the HGIC (Head Guinea in Charge) didn't like that very much, and ran up to the toms, jumped on their back and started biting and flapping. The toms freaked out, and started running. The guinea fell off and continued to chase the toms around the run.








I think I need more guineas.

Here you thought those guineas were all stand-off-ish and non caring and they come to your defense when they think you're threatened! That is pretty funny. I bet those turkeys were totally freaked out, as they'd never expect that to happen. Love it!

I have a turkey stick and I'm not afraid to use it. They become major jerks in spring, but I'm not sure what's going on now. The older they get the meaner they get. I don't need 2 fifty pound toms coming after me. Funny how an 8 lb guinea showed them who was boss.

Some toms will get on a hen in the nest and break all her eggs to get her to breed again. I have no problem with putting a bad bird in the freezer.
It is very funny that your guineas were no afraid to take on those two trouble makers! hahhaha

Don't get me wrong I have no qualms about putting birds in the freezer. I just need a bigger scalding pot. These guys are so old they'll likely be sausage.

SCG there's never a camera around when you need it - darn! That would have been the most hysterical video on youtube. That guinea must really love you, or really hate Turkeys. Oh man I would have loved to have witnessed that.

The two broad breasted turkey we had processed for us, we could not even fit in our oven. My husband had to have a friend of his smoke them for us. He said that the turkeys legs came up and stopped the rack from turning. He has a huge smoker that he takes to locations to cook for huge companies and Alabama football team. But they were 6 months old.
You could skin them and cut them in half.
