Cell phone rang at 5:30 tonight. Only a few people have my number so I pulled over figuring it was DH. Yup, calling to say he was ok and had been in a 5 car pile up.

Was getting a ride back to work to stay the night. Me, I'm thinking posible concussion. I convinced him NOT to got to sleep until we talked again.WHy are men so stubborn? 5 hours later I called him again, having figured out he needed to call his co- worker and have that person also stay over at work and keep an eye on the stubborn *$&*#(@(
rant.gif
. He actually was on the way back to work, driven by a co-worker and was just leaving the hospital. WHew, I was releived. THe docs checked him over and no concusion, which was my biggest fear. A sore neck and a rug burn on the top of his head!!
lau.gif
. He is so tall he removes his hat while driving. Of course his vehicle is totalled-- it took the brunt of the 5th car hitting his (nearly) stopped vehicle at nearly full speed, and the domino effect damged 3 more vehicles in front of him.

THat must have been quite a hit. ANd he talks to me all normal voice like it a walk in the park. I was born in the dark but it wasn't last night!! Men!! ( I think his co-worker talked some sense into him!! THank you A!!!

was he "on the job" when the accident happened?

Just some little blurbs to share. A mama duck walked out of the bushes with two ducklings following her. As a friend said, "Oh, good, you didn't have enough ducks.". Hey, I am still under 30!

I am considering having about six drakes processed. HHandbasket will study up on the process for ducks.

Yesterday, I stepped on one of Sparkle's chicks and it died within a minute. Of course I feel like a horrible caretaker. At least it was a cockerel. Sparkle doesn't seem bothered by having only 3 chicks to raise, now.

Alice Silver Sebright took her single chick out of the house today. She managed to make it into the garden and then completely around the back of the house to the patio, where I convinced her to re-enter the house. (No steps too high for baby chick to maneuver.) The two of them made a bee-line through the kitchen and living room back into the office.

Broody Silver Sebright mommas puff up like tiny tom turkeys, fanning their tails and whirling to warn everybody away.

It was a much nicer day today!, didn't even need to use the misting system!

Sorry. Crap happens and boy don't we feel aweful. ( Glad the weather is easing. Weather was 99 today and I hardly noticed myself. BIrds held wings out much of the day-- I was wondering why-- now I know. 90+ weather is becoming the norm here.)

I think he must!! He logs a lot of hours in that work truck , basically lives out of it, driving around all day when he's not sitting in a meeting.

I will keep your mom in my thoughts and prayers. I will check out her story too. God can work miracles. I will pray for a miracle. Cancer is an awful thief. I know you must all be going through a very hard time. Blessings and love, to you and your family!

Thank you so much. I figure it this way: only the good Lord above knows when we are coming home.
hugs.gif
And my prayers for your mom.

As you know, I have a personal interest in the big C-- and I"m determined to tackle cancers at the nutritional level. I eat some 1/4 cup raw ground flax seed a day; pick kale from the garden. Try new recipes to keep eating lots of veg to fight cancer. I eat apple seeds too. FOrgot to buy the alfalfa sprouts today. WIll get mung bean sprouts and do a stir fry this week. I not as scared by the cancer as I am the chemo and radiation.

So with how much ya'll know about me I decided I would give you my real name so I am no longer referred to as a chicken.....LOL! My name is Kasey.

I am so bummed! I am trying to start a line of Silver Campines and I have (had) two cockerels and a hen that I bought and had sent from Texas that I was going to start using this fall. Yesterday, I lost the hen....... the HEN! Not one of the roosters, no it couldn't have been one of them, nor one of the two dozen cockerels that I turned out last weekend to free range (because they are going to be culled anyway) and I thought they might distract any predator that happened by. NO, it had to be the valuable one. I found a pile of feathers and think it was likely a hawk. Grrrr!

And if that is not bad enough, the lone turkey from the Cinco de Mayo hatch died while I was at work ... AND IT WAS FINE WHEN I LEFT yesterday morning. Now I'm worried about the other two poults I have in the brooder. I don't know why my turkeys all die before they get full grown.

Somebody pass me a Margarita.........

He works for the state-- there won't be another truck any time soon. Should see how poorly these vehicles are kept up.( Not a factor in this accident.) I remember years ago, he drove a truck in which the drive door didn't shut =He had to hold it shut. The state has no money to repair anything it seems these days. So I expect it will be I drop him off Sundays and pick up Sat am. Naaaa. He can just stay at work!

Oh wait I have a chicken sale to go to Sunday-- maybe he can get a truck for the weekend to watch the kids.

We need to get our economy rolling again!!!!! I'm ready to dump all the folks in Washington in the river and elect new members. Oh wait, we already tried that.
