The Old Folks Home

Much nicer today - mid 30's - got a lot of ice off driveway and it was sunny - so beautiful out!! I think Xmas is supposed to be 40 and rain/sleet. Oh well.

Where the tall tiki torches glow
Where the green grass glistens
And the warm Al listens
To waves and birds and children down below....

...on the beach....."

dream on (me too)

For my roosters that means nobody attacked my ankle and they didn't kill one another.

My definition of winter. Snow on Christmas eve. Sub freezing temps on Christmas Day. December 26th the snow melts and on the 27th spring begins.

Oh well, I can dream can't I?

@getaclue Mould - that was the cause of my constant pneumonia - I found mould growing in my closet it backs onto the shower. Apparently the spores are life threatening. I had a mould detection guy come in and he went through the whole house it was everywhere. Not that I could see it but he took air samples! and found that the house was full of spores.

We drilled into the walls and pumped in 'anti mould' stuff, inside and outside of the house. I suppose its because we are close to the river and the house was not damp proofed properly when it was built. Anyway after excessive amounts of bucks I am mould free and haven't had an attack for months. Maybe check it out.. you would be surprised even a veggie or fruit that has gone 'green' can cause a huge problem.

They said we would have rain this morning nope actually got up to 40
here downright balmy
The same thing is going on here. Accuweather says we will have rain at 10pm tonight--it is now 10-7pm and there is nothing on the radar. The storm will either miss us or be delayed I suppose.

Mold sux. I'm highly allergic to it and so is my husband. It seems to get worse in the winter. I usually wind up with asthmatic bronchitis from the post nasal drip. Makes me wonder why I ever chose a career in medicine. I'd get a cold or virus and I just knew where it was going to lead during the winter months. The more we are out and around the public, the more likely we both are to get sick. We said we should have retired somewhere drier but here we are in perpetually soggy Missouri. The good thing is that we only get half the snow here that we did when we were living in Illinois. Unfortunately we make up the difference in ice and rain over the winter months.

It got up to 44 here today. They are calling for snow tomorrow but it's going to be in the high 40s and rain on Christmas day. It was nice enough today that DH and I took the dogs out for a walk. There is still patchy snow about but I was just glad to be outside and so were the pooches even if it was muddy.

Two days before Christmas and I'm dreaming about chicks. Bantam chicks. I promised DH that I wouldn't break in the Brinsea he got me for Christmas until the first of March and by the end of January I have to have my run revised so I can kick the spare roosters back in their own pen. I'm sure they will love that, especially after being used for winter versions of extra chicks to keep the hens warm.
