I figured our so far that I'll line the bottom with hard sided gel packs, heat the gel packs and the inside of the cooler with boiling water and have it hot before I heat the meal.
I'll dump the hot water and live the cooler with clean, hot towels. I'll pull the roasters from the oven at 400-450 and place them directly into the cooler, one on top of the other...if there's space I'll have my rice heated up too and fit it in. I'll fill the rest of the space with hot towels and head for the destination. (I'll have to have figure out the way everything fits first before it's heated)
When I cooked the turkey before it was pulled from the oven, wrapped in a towel and I held it to the destination. It was still piping hot when we got there...but I still had to extract the stuffing and make gravy. I think this new way may be better. I'm going to find out...
I actually thought of the bags...but I'm trying to not spend any more than I have to just to make a meal once a year. I already have the coolers and other stuff. That's a good thought though. Maybe using aluminum to line the cooler may be a good idea. Thanks for that thought!
This is the most people I'll have cooked for. There's 10-12 older teenagers/young adults and most are guys. We all know how much they can eat...lol. (Yikes!)
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
