WElcome Back @Peep_Show did you see any Icelandic ponies?

No Icelandic ponies, unless you count the statue in front of the Saga Museum. There are a couple of pony farms nearby that have rides and excursions. Maybe next trip....

It looks like a gnome stole my clothes and posed for pictures!

Hey Peep it looks and sounds like y'all had a great time! Nice!

This was a TravelZoo trip that came up on their Weekly Top 20. Icelandair roundtrip plane fare, three nights at the Hilton Nordica, a soaking excursion at the thermal pools, Northern Lights tour and a buffet dinner at a spa for a ridiculously low price. (I think it was $599 each person for the package.) Couldn't resist and took the bait. It was a blast and a much-needed getaway.

(If anyone is so inclined to go, Groupon has specials, too. I would suggest choosing a tour that offers Icelandair vs. Wow as you get free luggage. AND Icelandair also has a neat independent promo of flying to Europe for cheaply which includes a free stopover of up to 7 days in Iceland should you so desire, so you can craft your own trip.)

Peep that sounds like a great deal. Maybe one day. Dh can't get away from work hardly for a weekend with out them calling him to go do this or that or the security alarm went off it's always something. Sometimes I wonder who he's married to.... hahaaaa

Hi, folks! Back from our Iceland adventure.

Didn't see any Icelandic chickens...unless they were the little roasted things in the buffet line.
Wow...I'm so jealous....except for the "Didn't see any Icelandic chickens..." part!
No way I'd get to Iceland and not see some!
It sounds like you had tons of fun any way. Your Viking gear is cool!

..sorry you didn't get to see the Northern Lights.
It is on my bucket list, too.

Iceland is one of my bucket list items....   Frasier Island too....      not interested in Europe with the exception of Ireland.

I would also like to visit Patagonia and Peru and Machu Pichu

Want to take a cruise to Alaska too.

But most of all I wanna see eighteen acres near the border with a horse waiting for me.  sigh

I am hoping with you my friend. :hugs

All the more reason to take him to another country! Might be a little harder for them to drag him away!

@Peep_Show Fantastic hearing about your trip! The photos were great!

To anyone...maybe this is a silly question but for everyone living south of me...is the the Northern Lights not viewable from your location?
Or are the northern lights different in Iceland? Totally curious here.

They are a polar thing.... down to certain latitudes on both hemispheres. It has to do with the electromagnetic field of the earth and the Electrons produced by the Suns Radiation. Earths magnetic field is more vertical coming out of the poles so it aligns the electrons so you can see them better.
