Well its official I should not be keeping chickens or betting at casinos. The odds are against me.

10 sexed pullets= 4pullets and 6 roos
29 straight run = 9 pullets and 17 definite roos and 3 probable roos
16 self hatched= 3 pullets and 13 roos

So 55 chicks =16 pullets.I always wait till it is 100%(crowing) before sending someone to freezer camp.Now if I was running a stud farm thing would be great.Have any of you had years like this, or am I just getting bad odds?

Sexed pullets should by 85 to 95% correct, so that is a weird one. Straight run often have extra roosters. I have read posts about people hatching out too many Cockerels some years though.

I hope next year is better. For now, you have a lot of chicken dinners!
 
Oh no that is Insanity! LOL! Ya seems as tho that is happening alot. My Brother in law bought 10 Pullets from a hatchery. So far as they grow he has had 4 Roosters. Maybe better luck next year. And just think of all the good chicken recipes!!
 
I wish I did eat them but I give the LF away to a friend who hasn't named them and has a stronger stomach.So far I've managed to place all the bantams. I still have 2 dozen in the incubator but they are seramas (not much of a meal)
 
well you could tell DH that you want to serve very small omelets with squab for sunday brunch.lol They would work for that.

THAT'S IT!!!!! I will look up recipes. They will be like a cornish game chicken thing you buy in the store. And the eggs would be great for............................EASTER!! That's it. The kids will have an easier time dying those eggs then the bigger ones. Oh I need more convincing stuff tho.
