First,subject of the day. My DH can park anything anywhere. loves laughing at me because I can't park anything anywhere. Very irritating. He also makes trailers out of everything to haul anything. Very impressing.


HELP!!! Ron? Any computer guru?? Stupid Windows! Got an update last night as I was shutting down now my spacebar or first 4 number keys will not work normally w/o me holding down the function key!!! And it's been so long I can't remember how to fix it.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I have found a couple of references to this problem.

1. driver error. Check to see if the updated included a keyboard driver. if so, open the device manager then keyboards and properties. Under drivers, see if you can roll back to the previous driver. If not, try updating the driver.
2. A keyboard mapping program that was removed by the update.
3. A program that is messing up the key board. One that does this is a comcast addon program.

One way to test for it being related to a user is to login to the computer as a different user to see if the problem goes away.

two of the three outbreaks in AL were in backyard flocks. The state inspectors, at least here in WI were no where near any infected facility prior to going to the JennyO plant.

Yes, I saw that. I read on FOX news this morning that there was also a third facility in Tenn. that was hit also, back to the big plant factor I mentioned. It would also be interesting to know how many of those back yard blocks were free ranged over contained in a run.

Maybe why I'm suspicious and at the same time curious about these outbreaks is the fact that most of the migratory birds that winter in the far south have probably already moved north. So there has to be some yet unknown vector that is spreading this virus. Mosquitoes possibly? It's been a given that disease carrying insects can piggy back in on airliners, cargo ships and the like.

It's just really weird that these outbreaks (major outbreaks where 25-75,000 birds are being destroyed) are happening primarily in plants that have the highest bio-hazard rules in place.

I wonder also if the private flocks that are being infected are being exposed to wild migratory fowl. The disease has to have a vector that is transferring it from host to host.

The last time when the avian flu hit further north, the theory was that infected manure blew in from high winds. Have there been some high winds there recently? If so, some Goose manure may have been blown in. Geese are the main vector because they can survive longer while infected.

Good point ronott1. We saw the heaviest goose migration about three weeks ago. It's dropped off sharply over the past week. There are also a lot of nesting grounds around us but so far I haven't read of any dead geese in the county or the surrounding counties.

Well my broody with exemplary behavior just broke her streak. I went out to check on her at noon and push the roost queens outside and discovered that she had somehow popped the door open on her cage and was happily sitting on the two eggs in the nest next to hers. Silly girl. The eggs were chilled but she is on day 15/16. I got her back on her own nest and candled. They are all developing nicely and I saw movement in two so hopefully no harm no foul with her slip up. Usually my hens don't start laying until 9 or 10 so she couldn't have been on them very long. She is due to go into lock down over the weekend and hatch on Tues or Wednesday. I'd much rather see her slip up now then earlier in the incubation period but boy things like this really make me think that incubators are a lot more dependable.

I told my husband that they are just bizarre little creatures. They get confused and don't recognize their own nesting box or the 8 eggs that they have been loyal to after being off them for 5 minutes but let you reach in and grab a couple to candle and they unleash an unholy screaming meanie on you.

Yep they are heavy about 100 lbs each. I dont lift em I drag em by fastening either vice grips or c clamps and rope.

Well I got a surprise today.... I called the feed store to tell them I couldnt pick up the hay today.

Talked to Rita the owner she said shed emailed me a couple of weeks ago. She said she and her husband would be happy to deliver my hay for me... no charge.

I am still getting the trailer but there isnt a big hurry now.

thanks Ron. tried it all, nada. (had already tried the driver fix) had a fight just to get logged back in after shut down earlier. not the first time that's happened after large ten update. it hangs up and I watch the little wheel spin but I figured out how to break out of the loop. my fault. I knew this one was dying. I just hate doing setups and they are worse with machine that has 10 installed (as I am sure you know). i was stalling hoping that they would get my DSL fixed before this one died. Sigh. I just have to assume either something corrupted or my old faithful has finally refused to cooperate with 10. Guess I know what I am going to be wasting my time on. good thing the weather is crappy anyway.
