The Old Folks Home

Superchemicalgirl that is way past being funny any more. I really feel sorry for y'all out there. Sort of like the rain here.I went out and dumped about half of my coop bedding out in the two runs in an attempt to soak up a bit of the mud. I'm just so tired of standing in ankle deep ooze. If my muck boots give out, I'm pretty much well, you know. The poor chickens continue to be mud to their ankles. This is the main reason I don't have feather legged bantams or Silikies. Poor things would be wearing mud boots most of spring and I'd be forever chipping, clipping and soaking their poor little leggs. I had to quit when the bantam rooster started leading hens in to lay. They didn't like me being there.

There is a 90% chance for rain tonight, 80% tomorrow then a chance to dry out until it all starts over again next week.

@microchick We have had a couple days here just was able to un use
the garden area that was fenced and backs up to the main coop just having a darn awful time securing
it from the ldg until she gets the her job in her head

We could start a pool...

Who has cleared snow first, Al or me (I don't think anyone else is in the running this year?)... and date of snow-out? I'm going with July.
I have old pics on my FB page popping up, you know the "one year ago today" ones showing pics I took of a FEET of snow and more coming down. Normal April. This year? Snow is GONE. I was just outside in my summer boots raking the garden. Highs in the low 50's today and into the 60's by the weekend

Hope it doesn't go south in May when my chicks are due to be shipped

:bow :bow

May you win that bet!!

I mean sure it snowed all yesterday......and looks like it will snow again today.....

BUT the snow berm out my kitchen window is covering only maybe 1/4 of the window...not bad for the start of April.

That is also my mud maintenance plan. I toss all the shavings out and it gets consumed by mud. I am hoping it gets above freezing for a few days so I can muck everything out this weekend. Right now we still have poo-cicles.
