I have not abandoned this thread, just left it in capable hands for a while. SCG.
Life happens. My Dad went into the hospital with pnumonia and went downhill fast from there. He is back in his memory care ( really nice ) facilility, but is pretty much bedridden and needs 24 hour care. I have requested and received FMLA for 6 weeks and will use up another 6 weeks of vacation time when that runs out. After that, I will retire. I will see you guys as much as I can, but there hasn't been time lately.
Love you all!

I used just on bite last year and have not had rats since! It's tough, Wisher1000. If our parents are still around by the time we reach 55 or 60 chances are high that you will be dealing with making some really tough decisions for them. It's hard but sometimes you have to think of what is best for you as well as them and as we are aging, it becomes harder for us to be caregivers for our parents. We get to an age where we are dealing with our own bodies getting older and developing health problems. God be with you and your family. We are all here if you need a shoulder.
I was reading about the broken down freezers, Penny1960. Do you have any Amish around you? They buy those things up so fast it will make your head spin. They don't have electricity, but what they do around here is fill them with ice and set them on the back porch. Amazingly enough they keep things frozen or at least icy cold.
WIckedchicken6. How is your arm today? Better I hope.
Take care everyone. There is just so much bad stuff going down with people that I knows health right now. I just got back from grocery shopping and one of my favorite checkers there told me she is being treated for lung cancer. Another friend of the family is being operated on today for Melanoma.I don't like this stuff at all!![]()
What I also don't like is that I've got reasons to suspect, namely burrows all over, that I have a rat that has decided to dig under my concrete floored coop and make the space it's own. I've been running around stuffing "One Bite" down the holes and covering the holes with bricks to keep the chickens away from it. DIE RAT VERMIN! I'm just in the mood to do it bodily harm. Last one I had got beat to death with an oak board. My broody hen with chicks was screaming at it at the top of her lungs. I turned around to see what she was screaming at and there it was, sitting a few feet away from me trying to get into the little fenced in run. Luckily I had the board nearby and was able to dispatch it to rat Hades. This one is going to be dispatched with a .22 if I see it before the poison gets it.
Can you tell that I really HATE rats?
