The Old Folks Home

I know it's only Thursday, but anyone have fun weekend plans?

We (Orthodox Christian) actually have the same date for Easter this year. I really prefer being one week later than everyone else...because then I can grab whatever we want at the sale price. :D

Ah well, not this year.

We do the crazy service schedule on the way to Easter (Pascha), two services every day, except Friday gets three. Sunday we only have one. :lau

The reason that we have so many is they go over all of the stuff that happens right before the crucifixion, and then the crucifixion, and then the burial, and then the resurrection...anyway...lots to cover.

We actually haven't bought any of the food for the feast :hu we have been so busy with so many other things.

Also, stupid only goat that birthed.... NOT ENOUGH MILK for us and the goat kids!!! :barnie In my fantasy realm, she was going to produce lots, and we would start to milk her this week, and start making cheese, so we would have a bunch of cheese for the feast.

Do we have cheese? Nope. Do we have milk? Nope. :rant

Her two kids are doing well... she just isn't as productive as I had hoped. I need to give her kids a couple of more weeks of growth before they are butchered....

Whatever, fantasy smashed.

I bought some oats today.. hoping maybe with giving her oats in addition to the rest of her feed...maybe that will help her production. Dunno.

aren't goats fun

Hoping for pink! Al, you ought to swing by BYH. They have a really great active goat group over there.

I'll also be picking up a 200-250 pound gilt pig. Thinking to fatten her up a bit more then she's off to freezer camp.

Alaskan, I had a rotten day too. Only you would understand. I reached for a pint of Oberweis Chocolate ice cream -at the grocery store today. When I got home it had changed to Chocolate Peanut butter. When I was a scruffy youngster used to love ice cream with peanut butter in it. My mature palate HATES IT!! What to do?. I made the mistake of eating it because it cost too much. It truly made me feel ill.

As a companion mishap, I was multi tasking in the kitchen, boiling up water for spaghetti, dropped a portion into the water - then the timer went off letting me know my spaghetti was done.

I then realized I had dumped a new load of spaghetti on top of the previously added spaghetti that was now ready to eat. I dumped it into the colander and it was fairly easy to pick out the raw stuff, since it was stiff as a board and standing straight up. In my lifetime of many gaffes this was a FIRST for me. Very hard to do anything with a brain that is obviously older than I am.

Thanks Superchemicalgirl. Much appreciated.

Nothing special planned here. Just DH and I for Easter. I think the key word is relax although any outdoor plans will pretty much depend on the weather.

Forgot it was Easter!

I bet when you butcher her kid her fantasy will be smashed, too!

Sounds like a lot of services, how do you fit that into an active lifestyle?

Latestarter, glad you're back and getting into goats. Should have just come to Maine and picked up my two. Take lots of pics!

Ls have a safe trip to Ark. and would love to see pic's of your new additions. Are you going to smoke some of your new found pork?

Scg what are you doing this weekend?

Al at least you can keep your goat in milk after the deed is done. Then you can have all kinds of cheese.

Diva so sorry about your ice cream mishap.

Microchick I already have the dispensers on my list for the one bite.
