Put the chick into a tea cup and back into the incubator for a day. Give it Poly visol baby vitamins without iron, a drop twice a day.

The yolk needs to absorb as much as possible and it is best if what is left falls off by itself. Use Vetricyn gel for any wound left and do not pull anything.

I got the baby out of the shell for the most part. It still has a good bit of yolk in the sack it has to absorb. And the sack is still attached to part of the shell. So I put all of it on a rag back in the bator to finish up the yolk! YUCK!!!! I did not want to do this part and yet here I am on my first hatch!

To help or not to help - that is always the question! I have helped and lost them anyway, I have not helped and lost them . . . it's a tough call. Some chicks pip the egg and sit behind the pip for ages before they are ready to unzip, and others go for it right away! I have assisted a lot of chicks that pipped from the wrong end; I don't know if they might have made it out on their own or not.

Hoping your new chickie pulls it together and pulls through!

I am thinking of hatching out some Poults when I get back from Florida. Is it too late? Will my styrafoam incubator be ok for this? Which Turkey should I start out with? How many eggs should I start out with. OH SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!

I want to hatch something out and have been dying for some turkey I am just so nervous. Should I get shipped eggs or buy local? Is there a difference in fertility?

turkey season is all but over. you may find eastern wild or beltsville on ebay.

local eggs will hatch much better

a styro can handle from quail to emu. you should hand turn turkey though

HELP!!! The chick kicked the shell loose from it's yolk sac and the yolk is leaking out of a big hole. I tried to pour sugar on it to stop the leaking but it is not working. Is it going to die?
