The Old Folks Home

I can not believe some people...

Now this seems like a place I can relate to!
I'm new here, but not to chickens, family and farming.lol
I understand exactly where you're coming from on the critters vs family.
Hubby supports my hobbies in more ways than one and our kids, well not so much kids anymore, oldest is 27, youngest 13 and there are 6 total along with 3 grandkids.
I tend to need more help these days with the heavy stuff and they all help but sometimes I worry they begrudge it. Although the grandkids love going to barn with me. So I guess I just need to ignore the grumbling and enjoy the giggles of the grands.lol
Anyway, hope to pop in from time to time but being a newbie yet still an oldie I don't want to intrude. Just not my way.
Hope everyone has a good night.
Till next time....

@Fields Mountain Farm :welcome and to the Old Folks Home!
No one could possibly intrude! We are happy see anyone who happens to stop in.
My grands love to come and help me with the chickens and barn cat chores. The kids, not so much.
No grandkids yet, but 5 kids 4-18. The older they get, the more worthless for chores they become... Like to squash the older two back up and shorten them back to where they were cool. Lol.

Hahahahahahaha!
Couldn't have said it better! Sometimes I really do like my critters more than....

Looks like some stupid thing I would do...nope...I probably would have crammed the horse into the cab. That pallet cage on the back looks like it is about to smash over.

My older ones are so useful...but now they are leaving me.....

The 13yr old is helpful and strong..but gosh all!!! I can't get enough work out of the 11 and 8 year old.

Even when they try to work hard they just aren't strong enough.

My 17yr old son is the most helpful, I do have to be fair. He has the task of watering and I rarely have to remind him. The oldest 4 have jobs and two of those have kids so it's not that they aren't helpful when needed I just worry that sometimes they wish they weren't needed so often.
The 13 yr old daughter however has a tendency lately to "forget" any chore she's given.
And all but one still live at home in order to help us keep the place going. So please don't get me wrong, I really can't complain. Still, sometimes I really want to ring some necks.lol and not my chickens!
