wtf.gif ..... gig.gif .... crazy.gif That's hilarious. And a little bit sad.

I'm going to have to look that up...
Edit, yum, looks good!
I like my fries naked, but do love cheese fries. I do not understand or like the gravy fries that are so popular here. Do not like them Sam I am.

I prefer the fries smothered with cheese AND gravy! :drool :woot
Poutine here we come.:wee

We are actually running behind on our wood harvesting this year mainly thanks to both DH and I dealing with on going back problems. We generally have 8 cords piled and drying in the barn by now but I don't think we will be finishing up till the end of the month. Instead of putting in 6 hours harvesting and splitting, we put in about two hours in the morning and quit no later than 11:30 so we can move on to other projects not to mention give our backs a chance to rest.

Luckily we had wood left over from last season's milder than usual winter so we are only looking at doing 6 cords this year.

It's been so dry here that hay season has already begun. The Amish horse drawn hay mowers and rake traffic has been heavy. Perchie.girl, you would love seeing the little Amish boys, no older than 8 at the reins of their Percheron draft horses. I saw one young man not even 5 feet tall himself, walking behind a team of three big Perchies while his slightly younger and smaller brother followed behind, leading a forth. Such gentle giants. Those horses could have taken off and those boys would have been helpless to stop them.

Sure hope you continue to feel better.

Today, I was so proud of myself, I made butter for the first time. I give our neighbor eggs since their flock was killed off by a fox, and she gives me fresh milk in exchange. Today I skimmed the cream and hand shook my first half pound of butter. It is delicious! I told my husband that their little brown milk cow almost makes me want to get one of our own.

5 AM milkings? Nah. We were out chasing down our diabetic cat at 4 AM this morning when he slipped out with the dogs. I can just imagine myself trying to milk at that hour. I'd probably try to milk one of the chickens.

Oh, come on guys, don't tell me nobody missed me? :hit

I think it's been something like 5 days since I logged on. In that time, we have split a cord of firewood, gathered mulitple loads of rounds in our tractor's bucket and hauled them back to the barn where they are waiting to be split, Burned 6+ slash piles from harvesting said firewood, spent countless hours hoing the garden, disuading deer that have been nibbling on everything from green bean tops and one Jalopeno pepper plant. Yesterday my Welsummer hen, Dolly, who hatched chicks in March decided that she had to have more babies to drool over so she went broody and is happily sitting on 7 bantam eggs. The little chicke that was abandoned by her momma has happily bonded with the two OEGB(I think) chicks that I got at Orschelns to keep her company and is thriving as are Faith and Hope. Then this morning I discovered that my last surviving Welsummer rooster had developed an infection overnight. His right eye was swollen shut and he was running a fever. No perulent drainage of any kind but I heard some rough respirations. I pulled him from the flock, started him on Terramycin along with the rest of the birds just to cover them. He looked pretty bad until later this afternoon when he started taking notice of things around him and gobbled down half a scrambled egg that I hand fed him. He is spending the night on our back deck in a cage. Afraid to put him back with the flock since I really don't know what he has or where he picked it up and really not certain if he is going to survive this.

Dang Marek's disease. Have I mentioned that I really HATE this disease?

So deciding that I didn't have enough hours in the day I shoved the internet aside for a week...okay, I caved. I was planning to to log on this weekend and catch up but got to wondering what everyone was up to.

So...what's everyone up to?
Of course we missed you! :hugs
I thought it was Tuesday/Wednesday. I guess it's Thursday? idunno.gif You got a lot of things done! :bow I'm happy to hear Dolly is setting and the wee chick has companionship. :yesss: Sorry to hear about your welsummer. :( But glad to hear he may be on the mend.:yesss:

wickedchicken6 I love your Avatar!
Lol...thank you! It's supposed to be a moving gif. Perchie posted the gif program she used so I could make it fit. I got it to fit...but the darn thing still won't work! :barnie
Now I'm wondering if it's too...much for anyone just joining?
Poutine is on the SECRET menu of KFC..... Just sayin....

deb
KFC has poutine??
Of course you're KFC and my KFC don't carry the same thing...like biscuits. We don't have the biscuits. I watched everyone put honey on theirs...so I put honey on mine. Is that what a person's supposed to do with it? Here we have buns.:D

I will look for the poutine next time I'm in one. Our Chicken Chef restaurants make the most delectable poutine. :drool
