My grandmother used a coffee pot like the one you pictured, and yes it made the best coffee. The thing is, it is best with a coarser grind, and the coffees nowadays are finely ground for the drip coffee makers.
We had hard water too but now we have surface water--water comes from lake Shasta via the Sacramento river. The water is great now!For for the last 4-5 years our coffee pot had just died.
So I told Dh I wanted a peculator coffee pot so it won't quit working on us anymore.
It's crazy to spend 50-60$ a year on a disposable coffee pot! And we bought some good ones.
So we ordered on off Amazon for 19.99 and it got here yesterday.
I made the best coffee I have ever tasted this morning! So happy with my new pot!
I will never buy an drip pot again.
Here in AL. we have so much limestone in the water that it clogs them up and
they quit working.

I have taken my Chemex coffee maker camping. I also have a camping percolator too.Ron that's a nice coffee pot. But I really like this one. I can also take it camping and not have to worry about it getting broke.
I love the taste also. I filter my water but it still clogged up the old pot's.
I am sure I will have to de lime this one every now and then. But hey at least I wont have to buy another one.![]()
