The Old Folks Home

Yesterday I got the vinyl on the new catchboard and around the wall behind the roost. I also realized I needed to extend the "backsplash" behind the older roost as well. Make cleaning day a lot easier. Messy birds. Too hot to get much done today but I did manage to get the ramp for the new pophole done and painted. DH and I got the roost bar screwed in place inside the new addition. A few minor adjustments, etc. and, It's done! :celebrate Finally the addition is finished. Probably catch a couple pics before the new tenants, aka the crazy, soon to be 4 week old chicks, move in next week. Now the rest of the week, weather permitting, it's on to building and hanging the door to finish enclosing the breezeway between the coop and greenhouse giving the chooks more leg room this winter and putting up the steel roof for the leanto I need for winter storing of carts and fencing.
Oh, and I need to remember to feed the gardens this evening ahead of the storms rolling back in tomorrow p.m. It finally stopped raining long enough for things to dry out a bit so the plants can soak it up.

Not terrible. Doing my PT as I was told 2-3 times a day. Still get pain when I'm not careful about how I'm walking or walking on uneven surfaces, but not awful.

I'll spare y'all the 1000 pictures of gravestones today, so long as you allow me this one. This is one of the ones that caused me to go to the town and offer to do the work. This 2 year old is the only one in this cemetery. Assuming at one point it was on their land.

Benn, before, leaning and being propped up by his footstone:

Benn, after. Got him dug out, cleaned up and put back in, along with his footstone in the approximate correct location. I did not locate a base for the headstone anywhere and it seems like it should have a base. It is way too short to be in the ground like it is. It'll last a few years like this, and then I'll have to pour it a base.

Good on ya'

scg, you did a wonderful job with that baby's headstone. Wow!

ron, I googled einkorn. Cool!
The flour has a light yellow color to it and it has a bit of a nut like flavor. I used star thistle honey to feed the yeast and it taste very good with the einkorn flour.

The Corrales Fourth of July parade was a hoot this year. LOTS of Model A and Model T cars, a wide range of John Deere and Farmall tractors, assorted horses and horse/carriage combos, mules, a couple of llamas and goats, contingents of Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troops, a lot of contest princesses (Miss Teen New Mexico, Miss Capital Cities, Miss Teen Universe), a few too many politicians, and two new floats: One was a dental group that threw little toothpastes into the crowd instead of candy and the other was a septic cleaning company, fortunately just daisies in tow. The people watching was great and it was a full hour's worth of hometown pageantry. Gotta love a good parade!
I like the idea of the dental group tossing out little toothpastes!!! That's cute...lol!

Miss Brandi Snored through the whole ordeal. LOL Though we did have a fright later that night. Let her out to go potty and went about our business. about an hour later No Brandi.... she usually checks her mail boxes does her business and comes back in.

But she is sooo quiet we usually dont hear her come back in... WE searched the house... No Brandi... Dean Turned on the porch light.... NO Brandi.... He called... No Brandi. I am thinking Oh F*** and my her pounds.... the side gate ... could she have pushed it open.

Dean grabbed a flash light and disappeared into the dark. And was gone a long time.... No Dean No Brandi....

Pretty soon I hear him talking to her and they come in.... He with a grin on his face .... She with spider webs and a leaf stuck to her nose. Apparently she was investigating What Dean thought was a Rats nest in the lawn mower...

:th

Shes doing well now... Eating a full bowl of kibble without coaxing.... Telling me when Grandma is making noises in her bedroom. Keeping an eye on her as well. Working Dean and I for Skritchies... Not overtly begging at dinner time.... I am having to refrain myself from feeding her from my plate... BAD habit on my part... sigh.

Dean heard her Woof once... he said is a very loud bark... her doing her mail box routine and seeing something beyond the fence.

Her final Vet exam is today...
