None of my animals are bothered by the fireworks. The kittens first time a few of them hit their bellies and skunk each time one went off (professional grade being set off a few houses down) but they calmed down by the end of the night. The dog doesn't even twitch in his sleep.... and my horses, they don't care unless the sulfur smoke is so thick you can hardly see and is drifting across their field, even then, they just run, not panicked, just cantering in a herd, avoiding the ditches and fences like they are supposed to. If anyone gets too sweaty from running I just hose them down the next day and get the sweat crust back off.

So far Mel (my avatar) has no fear of loud noises, but he certainly knows when there's thunder, that I'll be letting him inside if he wants. He hates to be wet, and I hate for him to get all muddy, so we're both good with it. :plbb

The goats don't mind thunder, but when that liquid starts falling they run for the shelter like their lives depend on it. :lau However, when the neighbor starts firing his weapons, they bolt back and forth in the pen like they're being chased by the devil. Not sure why when there's been thunder that shook the house and that didn't seem to phase them

Hope y'all have a very nice Independence Day, safe yet fun filled and/or relaxing as you choose. Hope you're all careful!

Dang I forgot to put something around my wire so the neighbors kids don't shoot fireworks at my chickens

 why are some kids raised like that???? :smack

All I could hear was the occasional gentle tinkling of the windchimes as the barely moving wind would occasionally lightly touch them

So the bears didn't bust it? Nice you got it hung back up.

I have no idea. It's sad isn't it?

Our housekeeper loved the pillow and burpcloths.

I'm heading out in a bit to reset one stone, then head back here to shower and sew. The reset will take probably 3 hours, is my best guess.

Have a great day!

My cousin in Colorado posted this morning that someone vandalized a Veteran Memorial
made of glass with veterans names etched in it from the Spanish war to currant war. They shot it with a high powered riffle round in it and shattered it to pieces!
People have no RESPECT these days!

Fermented feed has a cult like status so I hesitate...but oh well...
There are no studies that show any benefit to FF. It is something that has created a mythology of benefit when there likely is no benefit.

For me, I had the most chickens die while using it so I do not trust it at all. It is too easy for toxins to develop in the feed. Recently I have been running across posts where there was poor flock health and a hatch I had where the comment was something like "I use FF so my flock is healthy" When there was an obvious nutrition issue going on in the flock. Same people will not listen when told to use better feed and to add something like calf manna as a supplement.

Quite a few people that have tried the fermented feed, had issues, and stopped feeding it to their flocks. Sprouts are fine, fermented feed not.

Happy 4th. of July!
