The Old Folks Home

I'd like to go on record of stating that I was not around in 1853.

I have now been asked (not on this forum) by two separate people that don't know each other whether the stone wall around Benn Wiggin's grave was original with the internment, and whether the tree was there when he was buried.

PEOPLE.

How the heck would I know?

Your answer should be "Why yes, the wall was original with the internment, but the tree had been there for quite some time....I remember it like it was yesterday."

I find staying home is just so much easier...lol. (The animals are usually nicer than the relatives anyway...lol.) ;) Wait...what? I didn't say that out loud, did I? :D:caf

Welcome to the thread!:frow

Perfect answer!!! My problem would be saying it all deadpan, and not cracking up at the end.

Where's the search thread option on here? I'm still lost...
Was digging through cupboards looking for alum powder for my hotdogs garlic koolaid concoction (catfish bait, alum toughens them up)
and came across the shagbark hickory that snapped off in a storm. If it went the other way would've had no home or family.
Planted hops on what was left and marigolds around.
Little girl pointing same one that's a professional fishermen. Gosh, probably 10 yrs ago or more?
Pics of old pics, our scanner/printer broke.View attachment 1068555 View attachment 1068556
Great photos...had no idea how tall that sucker was, until I spied the kid.

I ended up telling the one (crazyneighborlady) that 2 year old Benn must have planted that tree with his mom and that's why she buried him under it, completely away from the rest of the family.

Then she said "really?" to which I replied, "no, he was actually a vampyre and that's why he's in his own cemetery"

I'm going to hell.

Don't worry SCG, you won't be alone.

My second eggs has an external pip. Little Burd is snuggled up to her comfort monkey and doing well. 3rd egg should be hatching late today or tomorrow.

Wicked, all kidding aside, those yellow legged wasps are nasty characters that you just don't want to have around. My first sting from them was while picking blackberries in our arbor. It was hanging upside down on a cane and I didn't see it. I sure felt it. Their sting hurts like all get out. My little finger where it got me swelled up like a sausage and turned blotchy purple. The rest of my hand swelled halfway up my forearm and anywhere where the skin turned purple, it pealed off. When I told the doc about it he just shook his head and told me that the venom reaction is cumulative. The more often you are stung, the worse your reaction gets and just handed me an RX for an Epi Pen. I've had them swoop down on me and sting me just for walking within 10 feet of their nests and last year one attacked me while I was picking apples. I wasn't anywhere near it but it came swooping out of the tree.

Best thing to do with them is use extreme prejudice whenever you see one because sooner or later it will come after you if you don't.

So far I've been pretty lucky and haven't had another sting where I take full venom but when I know I'm going to be around the fruit trees or arbor or in the barn, I make sure to stay alert and carry a supply of Benedryl, Singulair and one of my 564$ Epi pens along with me.

That was one of those times where I was glad I had insurance. LOL
