The Old Folks Home

We traveled yesterday and visited Gran. We came bearing gifts of watermelon.
It was a good visit.:yesss:
I forgot to get another scalpel. Again! :barnie And they didn't have my non-med chick starter in. But they had medicated. I asked about higher protein feed for the guineas and the closest they had was turkey starter. It's only 26% protein, just two more percent that what I feed. It's in their book but they don't stock any...lol.:he

We were on our way home and we were talking about injustices which led to discussion about strange deaths such as Kurt Cobain's...and that morphed into discussion about well known serial killers. DH and I brought Manson into the convo and the boy pops up and asks...Marilyn Manson? It's funny what laughs the generation gap provides...:lau

He doesn't like Marilyn Manson's music (he knows it from me) but it's funny that was his first thought. We made sure to set him straight. The boy's a HUGE history buff and he knows more than I ever will about the presidents, the prime ministers and things in history I don't even remember learning. He surprised me when he guessed that...lol.

I moved the ducks out from the chicks before we left yesterday just to be cautious They appear to be eating well and are extremely astute in wearing all their water. o_O

You all make me feel guilty. You've been so busy. My big accomplishment was calling about 8 numbers before I finally got ahold of somebody who could help me with our fox problem. I finally called Columbia who passed me on to the regional wildlife specialist who could probably be able to trap the foxes for us. I think they were impressed that we wanted to trap the fox and not just use extreme prejudice against it.

I'm awaiting a call back now. They told me that not only did they have the right sized live traps but the had the specialists who could out fox the fox.

All I can say is YAY!

Wicked I can't wait to see how those frizzled things turn out. Hahhaha

Deb Alabama sends hay out there by train also. I watch the guys across the road load it sometimes. He owns most of the farm land around here and when they heard that Calif. had no hay for their farms a lot of hay was being sent by train.

Micro I hope they get your fox problems removed for you.

Beer I love that shot! hahahh

This is what I have been working on this morning. A shabby chick herb garden for the kitchen window sill. What do ya'll think? Does it look like it might pass for Alabama football season?

Kids been bugging me to see that one, saw the trailer watching the new Cars.
They call it the "New minion movie" lol!

That's why I love the drive-in, can bring tons of your own stuff, paper bags full of popcorn Lol!
Haven't been yet this yr though, hard to stay up that late, and then to watch the second movie we rarely do. We've just been catching the matinees at the theater, and getting the big popcorn and a couple drinks with free refills. Between me and the kids we down one bucket of popcorn before the previews are over and run for a free one Lol!

I love the drive in closest one back at Shelton 2 1/2 hours away from
where we live now

Oh wow! I used to love the drive in!!! :love Pillows, Pajamas, giant bag of popcorn.... We haven't had a drive in around here for many, many years. I think my kids would have loved them. I remember once me & a BF fell asleep at the drive in. We woke up in the middle of a completely dark, empty parking lot. We were old enough to not get in trouble with the folks, but it was a weird feeling & we both had "Wake up Little Suzie" stuck in our heads for days. :lau

Spent the morning assembling 30 frames for my beehive to replace the ones that got contaminated this spring with some kind of horrible wax moth.
Need to get them on the hive ASAP - but the glue needs to dry. I was not successful nailing them together so I had to resort to glue and half bent nails.

There, made ya laugh, right?

You have bees too? You amaze me!!! :bow

Sept. is usually our worst month here.

Just saw one on the freeway off ramp in Temecula a few weeks ago. It was so small I almost missed it, probably a cigarette butt out the window. We called it in quick & the fire dept was on it unbelievably fast. That tiny, little spot could've lit up half of So Cal in 0.60 seconds. Scary!

I'm so sad! I haven't been this sad over losing a chicken for a long time, because I haven't lost a chicken for a long time. My little Uggums is gone. :( She just never came out of that last broody very well. She got real thin while sitting, even though I took her off the nest every now and again to eat and drink, which she did, but not much. It was so hot..and still is. She was skin and bones today. :( Man, I'm going to miss that little cute thing come running every morning when I go out. Silly some say, but I think there are a few here that can relate to the sadness of losing a chicken. :(
