Couple pics for your enjoyment. Or not. Either way.

This is a stone I decided to start Monday PM. Top broke off and it's leaning badly down a hill towards the road. Peek of concrete at the base so I know it won't be easy.

Well, I got it dug out and got the stone out with a helper and got the front of the concrete mess out. I had to get the boys and the tripod to get the back of the concrete slab out.

Out of order, but we got this massive one out last night to level it... that should be fun, the base is 6 inches deeper on one side.

The boys got these out - they were leaning forward against the fence. They cleaned them and I repinned and remortared them yesterday with the help of the tripod. Please note that I did not whack my head or get tangled up in the tripod or the fence. Win!

Ok, back to my concrete mess that we pulled out of my hole. Oh, guess what's embedded in it? Yeup, the top of the stone. ARGHHHHH who does things like this? Grab the hammer and chisel, some earplugs and about 10 hours...

Yes, I did it. That entire top was engulfed in concrete.

This was the front of the concrete hell in my hole. They poured a front and a back and then put the stone in.

Did that just happen??? :barnie :he :he

Did you need to use the fancy soap that SCG suggested?

:ya. Fantastic! Absolutely fantastic!!

We have an old barn in Texas...I called around, those places that sell old barn wood for big bucks... wanted to see if I could sell them the barn....

They said NO!

If I did all of the work to dismantle the barn, they were willing to pick up the piled up lumber for zero cost. :th

To fix the barn, just the foundation...only place with rot....starts at $40,000
No wonder people let them fall down.

Yeah, I am sure a Texas barn isn't built out of some fancy wood...but it is still old wood.

They didn't even ask me what kind of wood it was made out of, or where it was located, or how old....they said they didn't care.

Crazy.
I would think a lot of recycling goes on up there.

catalytic converters have gold in them.
Mostly platinum. Not all are worth a lot but most are. Scrap yards know which ones they are just by looking at them. I got $80 for a small one off our dodge stratus. Some are only $10- $30. Heck even old dead car batteries are worth taking there for the lead. $10 or more depending on the size/weight, only get $5 for them on trade in when you buy a new one.
Wish I knew converters were valuable yrs ago, I've thrown away or gutted many unaware.

I have a hard time wanting to watch anything with Tom Cruise in it, he's such a weirdo, shame, he's a good actor. I think Jerry Maguire was last one I watched.
Pretty funny how many people I've seen get fooled into liking and reposting this pic on Facebook. IDK maybe they never saw Tropic Thunder, still cracks me up though.

If that's at me...thank you! But that's life, right? The main thing is that we were all ok.
I think it's just par for the course considering what we've been through...lol.

2011 - We had the fire and all the equipment inside was fire damaged.

2012 - We had the power surge that took out most everything that was powered by electricity; all the florescent bulbs, the stove, the water softener, the over head door openers on the shops...and the list goes on.

2012 - The dismantle and the build of the new shed.

2012 Ended with my back issues.

2013 Started with DH's knee and him trying to get out of things by pulling the 'ol pulmonary embolisms. We sold half the cattle herd. We started wet and ended wetter.

2014 was the flood. Oh yeah...there's grain in those bins.
View attachment 1091568 The white building between the trees is to be my new chicken house. Whenever we get to it.

View attachment 1091574 Our new shed flooded. *sigh*
View attachment 1091579 The aftermath. I tried to build a dike with what we had. It held until the last 1/2 hour. I've since fixed the mess and am working at building up the yard.

2015 was the tornadoes I think. Thankfully we escaped that. This was also the year I got chickens. And you know...we haven't had anything bad happen since we got the chickens. Maybe that's a sign that things are going to turn around. We went out for supper tonight. No talking until we got near home where we were looking at the crops. They look pretty good at the moment. We haven't had a good crop since 2010. :fl

I've gotten a bit carried away but this has ended up being very carthartic for me. I've been so upset since yesterday. My beautiful black ram passed away, he was the culmination of all our best breeding. The sheep have been on the back burner for a long time and we never got them split up to breed. I've been so, so angry with DH since yesterday. I've just been so frustrated with everything. I guess I see where all our time has gone...looking through all the pictures while doing this.

I do know I never want to have to deal with insurance companies ever again...:lau
Just "wow" and a huge hug. Boy, you are a survivor! (and by definition a true farmer :hugs)

Ok, so, my multi quote function isn't "functioning" right either so here we go with my senior not functioning correctly memory;

Morning everyone!
skunks bad, floods bad, Tom Cruise-no comment, they steal barnboards right off the barns here (couple cases of barns being literally stripped clean with only frame left standing), weathered barn boards sold to crafters and decorators for good money, great job on the headstones!,,,, did I miss anything? Oh yeah, great job on the graduations!!! Whew. My brain cells love my second cuppa.

I'm seriously reconsidering paying for another year if the only benefit I get is no advertisements (except on my Kindle, lots of large, irritating ads anyway on the bottom of the screen on the Kindle Fire app). Have months before my annual runs out, so we'll see.

Now it's time to go outside and get that new door up on the coop breezeway and the permanent gate posts in the ground for the littles grow out pen.

Have a great blessed day everyone!!!
