The Old Folks Home

After 2 hours the realtor had the audacity to tell us she has already spent too much time with us and needed to leave.

On our 6 hour drive back, that one factor was the deciding factor. She totally turned us off with that comment.
I hope you let her know...

Molting has started early here too. I noticed feathers missing on my Blue Marans last night. I am both sad and happy because I will not get an egg from her for a while but happy because they will be Dark eggs again.

I have been driving all over the place today, looking at listings to see if they are something I want to check out further. Managed to get up Spanish Creek (Rd) without a paddle... Literally and figuratively. Gravel road, steep incline, loose dirt & gravel, and my 2-wheel drive Rav4 started spinning wheels. The car slid back and against a rock at the uphill side of the drive. A big rock. Couldn't go forward, finally went into reverse and up and over it with the right rear tire. But not with the right front one... Some folks may have already gotten a clue, unlike me when I was dealing with the situation. Poorly. Cell phone access was good: two bars - good! My friends answered the phone - better! They came to my rescue. Big, burly, he-man rock lifting and placing, rocking the chassis, all that gnarly stuff. Urgh, arr. Success! I really liked the site, but it's bare land with well, pump house, septic system, and 500 feet to power. Still on the list for consideration. Then we traversed over hill and dale, they followed me some of the time, I followed them some of the time. That is, until their low-slung car bottomed out on one road and they had to turn back. I gave a full report of the pros / cons of that property and it was crossed off the list. Great price, and for good reason: HUD property, as-is, and the road over the ridge to get to it will be in the snow, even if the property itself is lower in altitude. Neighbors pretty close, all 4-wheel drive vehicles in their driveways. Got another one for my broker to investigate for me. She's been reviewing all listings I have sent to her and we've eliminated several. So it continues. At least I'm having fun.

That does sound like an adventure!

I hope the next place is better.

Quote: @ 26-27 we were too young and naive-- bought 2 parcels eventually; ANd a few years later bought the parcel we now have ( built a house on, too). SHe lost out on the sale-- guess that was punishment. Lot of bad realtors to deal with out there in my experience.

Keep looking Linda.. WElooked for months and months. Our issue was we were stingy on money and most of the locations were wetish land that even contractors didn't built on: divided up large tracks and left a few unbuilt lots, which made us suspisious. DH has athe skills to look at the trees and dknow the growing conditions, even in a dry period. All wet areas. Eventaully found a section that was in the hands of a lawry after a cliet passed away. He was tough to deal with, but 6 months later we had the land. WE built in a continency of a well, so we cut a driveway 1000 feet to get a well in before closing the deal. Wanted to make sure we had good water.

Glad you are having fun Linda, you will find a property that will work for you. How are th neighbors these days??

SCG-- what info do you have on clothes washers???

I looked at washers the other night. Strange to see some models without that agetator in the middle. Water usage isn't a problem for us, and the more water the cleaner our farm clothes. Which can be totally dirt some days!!
