The Old Folks Home

Thanks!
We watched the Dark Tower this week. I liked it! I do not know if Stephen King liked it though...I will have to see if there are any articles...
Reviews I read pretty much looks like if you are a fan of the book series you hate the movie. Looks like those who haven't read the books like it.
I've only read the first four so maybe it won't be so bad for me.
I don't like when a movie doesn't follow the book but not a deal breaker if it's good, just could have been better I guess.

I read the series and understand that you could never make a movie be very close to it. What happens is that characters become several or more from the book--One character adding in many parts of the story line. It gets confusing when the named character in the movie or tv show does things that they never did or even worse, that character died in the book.

Game of thrones has a lot of examples of this. In books you can have hundreds of characters in it. Movies have to pay money for each character so they cheat.

I liked the Dark Tower series but hated the ending.

I've been wanting to read the rest of the series but I feel like I should start back to the beginning beings I read the first four many yrs ago.
I remember waiting for Wizard and glass to hit the shelves and bought it instead of waiting for the library. Looks like that was 20yrs ago. I probably read the first one in the late 80s early 90s.

Yes! He started writing the series about college age and did not finish until recently. The series mirrors a lot of his other books. I will probably read them again too.

Got our injured girl home. She is doing well, walking, slowly but walking on her own power and looking fairly bight eyed. We got her home, fed her some scrambled eggs and gave her medicine. She is snoozing in the middle of the dining room floor, just glad to be home I think. The two felons greeted her meekly. I told them they'd better act meek because there was a new alpha to the pack and she is a red headed terror that they do not want to cross. Her mood doesn't brighten any when she looks at her swollen hand and bruised arm either.

Then I had to deal with my insurance company. I went to pick up my RX Ultram and discovered that they wouldn't pay for it. What the......I paid out of pocket and called them when I got home. New rules blah blah blah. They will only pay for one weeks worth per month with one refill. One tablet three times a day. I cracked up laughing after that and asked them what the patient who is suffering from chronic back and joint pain supposed to do when they take the medicine and legitimately need it? He said that they realized that this was a hardship for people who were not abusing the drug......no crap was my response. I guess I will have to pay out of pocket for it from now on.

SO everybody who uses Ultram or another rx pain medication for pain control....brace yourselves.

What a bunch of hooey from insurance companies once again.

Ron what didn't you like about the Dark Tower ending?

I haven't read any of the series but figured Roland was training the boy to be a gunslinger. I really do not like Matthew McConaughy(sp?) so I was very happy .

I believe I read there are 8 books/stories in the Tower series. Somewhere it mentioned the Dark Tower would come to TV.

Well IMHO, the insurance companies are practicing medicine. You have your doctor, who knows you, knows your complaints, etc, prescribes the medicine that they think you need, the insurance company comes along and says that they know better than your doctor does and won't pay for services that you are paying for namely, your prescription drugs and cares.

I know that drug abuse happens. But for every 25 people abusing, there are 25 who are responsible for the use of their prescription

I'm lucky in that I can afford to buy my RX OOP but what it is going to force me to do is cut back on my use which is what the doctor didn't want me to do and depend more on X tra strength Tylenol which I've been told is very hard on the liver and kidneys.

I really REALLY hate Insurance companies.
