The Old Folks Home

a very harsh but effective drug and easier than the biologicals of today I am sorry for her troubles...
She takes it for 5 days along with Zantac for her stomach. It seems to be helping a lot! She takes a test for RF to see if she has rheumatoid arthritis in a week or so

Ron I had not hear of adults getting that crud. So sorry your wife is having to deal with it and you to Micro. So wonderful to hear that your wife got something to help her feel better Ron.
I think she has been having Strep repeatedly since childhood. She still has tonsils that are all chewed up that no one will remove. These messed up tonsils likely harbor the bacteria. She may never be completely free of it and if the type of strep that moves on to scarlet fever and rheumatic fever are present then she gets that.

I had two incidents of RF, both after having strep throats. The first one went undiagnosed. The second one got me good.

Steroids knock my joint pain in 48 hours. So blissful not to hurt. Unfortunately I know the side effects of steroids and try to avoid them like the plague. placquenil? Forget it, it can wreck your eyes and the biologics scare me to death.

Got together with my pharmacist today and devised a plan of attack for the ins. company. I asked him about the acute vs chronic use, @superchemicalgirl and he said no difference. They were only authorizing 28 tablets per month no matter what.

They are presenting themselves as being doctors.IMHO. He said they were justified in their concern but they were takng it too far in the wrong direction.

Glad to hear that your wife is getting some relief from the rash Ron. I've had multiple RA titers done and they all come back Neg. Dr. told me that didn't mean I don't have it or a non typical form of RA. Like Lyme disease, RA can give false test results. GIver her my best wishes for a speedy recovery and tell her that she is not alone.

Ra runs in my Uncles lines uncle by marriage all three of his daughters now grandchildren and greats are prone... My uncle was a big guy Grands said finally another man in the family stood 6'3 but was on baton death march came home less than 100 lbs died from massive heart attack before he turned 60 they where my god parents...
Mine is plain old arthritis thank heavens... Graves won't kill me mostly blind won't I am stubborn old lady but love living

It is crazy how insurance companies decide what surgeries we need!

You are not able to get an authorization from the insurance company to override the 28 tablets? Did you call your insurance company to confirm that? The pharmacist may not know.

Got my runner finished, it will be gifted tomorrow.

I have a healthy hate for insurance companies. They could all disappear from the face of the earth and I wouldn't shed a tear.

We once asked an Amish neighbor why they didn't do insurance on their homes and he said, that when all was said and done, the only people with insurance who got rich was the insurance companies themselves. Thought about it for a moment and decided it was right.

Still with what we invest in our homes, our cars, our health and our belongings, we still can't afford NOT to have it.

That makes me hate them more.
